Approaching object error
Approaching object error
Here’s another one for the glitchy electronics on the RDX, and I’m wondering if anyone else has had this issue.
I was backing out of a spot at the local ShopRite this morning, and the approaching object alerted. After the other vehicle passed, I continued to back out. When I put the car in drive, the warning stayed on, thankfully without the audio warning. The warning stayed on for the drive home, several miles.
When I backed into my driveway, the warning went off and the camera operated normally. I put it in drive, and the warning came back. Reverse again, normal campers, drive warning. I shut the car off and the warning stayed on. Opened and shut the door and restarted, the car was back to normal.
Has anyone else had this problem? I recorded it, but it doesn’t make sense to bring I to the dealer, as they are 45 minutes away and I’d probably get “no problem found”. I do my own maintenance, do I can’t have them check it at the next oil change.
thanks.

I have a recording of the exact same issue. Mine appeared when I put my RDX into reverse almost immediately after turning on the ignition but before the infotainment booted up. Seems like it overloaded the system somehow. Has not happened since.
I had this issue when passing under a bridge where the sun overhead cast a shadow. Somehow the car camera or electronic thought I was going to hit an object and threw the warning. I don’t recall if the auto break kicked in or not. It probably did not or it would have cause an accident. It happened so quickly.
Besides the glitchy electronics the sensor is problematic too. While on the highway during a heavy rain one of left the rear tires went over a puddle. The rain water kicked up causing the sensor to go berserk. The left side mirror proximity sensor kept going on and off. It went on when there is no car near or close to my vehicle. It didn’t stop until I turn the car off and waited 10 minutes.
