2022 Infotainment Display - Turns on and won’t turn off

I recently acquired a 2022 Advance, nice car so far.

That said, has anyone experienced the following issue where the display screen turns on/backlights ever so slightly when you open any of the doors? Mind you, car is not on, only recently unlocked.

I’ve had to run out to the car twice to grab something out of the glove box, open the passenger door, display lights up. And when I shut the door and lock it, the screen stays backlit. Turning the car on and off fixes it and it shuts it off.

Same issue these have had for the last 4 years that Acura can’t fix right. I keep a 10mm box wrench in mine to disconnect the negative lead or it won’t turn off. There’s the tsb on this to replace the wiring etc. But have seen it only helps some people. Is what you get when the infotainment system is running almost 10 years old software and hardware.

Same problem with my MDX

I just took delivery of my MDX and realized that the infotainment screen backlight does not turn off in certain situations. Here is what i have tested.
  1. Engine turn off then Lock - backlight turns off
  2. Open door without running the engine and lock - backlight stays on.
  3. Proximity sensor - when key fob is detected, the cabin light turns on.. after a few seconds, the backlight turns on as well.
I have an appt scheduled with the dealership for diagnosis. Hoping its not a wild goose chase as i dont want to open up the electricals of my brand new car for nothing.

although I’m secretly happy that I’m not the only one facing this problem. 🤣

I no longer own an RDX...I was simply replying to this comment:

Sorry for the confusion.

I hope you find a resolution.

Update of sorts after having now owned the car for 26 months.

While the screen still sporadically lights up when opening a door after the car has been turned off, it does seem to go “back to sleep” 5-10 minutes afterwards.

2 years later no dead battery as a result knock on wood, nor have I found the screen perpetually still on when I get back in to drive somewhere at a later time.

Odd/not ideal, but doesn’t seem to be a detrimental issue big picture.
