2019 RDX transmission

Hello,

Do you guys notice a small jerk whenever the gears change?....I do notice a little jerk kind of thing ,especially in lower gears... Wanted to make sure this is common on all RDX's

Shift shock. I like just a little of it.....otherwise it feels like the trans is worn out.

My transmission was a bit jerky at lower speeds, but it seems to got smoother. There is something about transmission initial break in.

I had jerky shifting at lower speeds but now after 4,000 miles all gears are shifting silky smooth. I believe it has to break in and adjust to your type of driving.

I don't recall any rough shifting early on (it probably happened) but at 20k miles, it's very smooth.

Mine was a little harsh early on but it is already smoother at 1200 miles. It's either break in on or the car is getting used to my light throttle.

yeah, thats how non CVT transmissions work. Should not be harsh shift, but you will still feel it

Yes. Especially after I've been driving one of our other cars with a 5AT or 6AT. This thing is crazy shift happy.

But I think mine has become more smooth at lower speeds. Or maybe I'm just getting numb to its antics. Kinda like my kids or dogs.

thats the point of having 10 gears, you can have it shift to either fuel economy or power and keep it in the power band or most fuel efficient revs. Yet this car drinks gas 😂 but hard not to have fun

I'm at about 3000 miles and it is absolutely smoother than when it was new. I used to be able to feel every shift through the first 5 gears, then 4, then 3, and it's really the 1-2 shift I feel now. And, even the 1-2 shift is not harsh.

Yes but now it is only the last 2, sometimes 3 gears. On mine, downshifts were never harsh but I can't even feel them now.

Just so I am clear, I can't feel them but I you watch the tach then it is obvious when they happen.

The first demo I drove had lower gear shifts that would roll my head back and forth. The second one was much smoother. It's a bit concerning that there is inconsistency from unit to unit. I do like to feel shifts as subtle bumps, that's one of the reasons why I dislike the CVTs I've driven.

Has anyone noticed this scenario

heading towards a red signal with slowly braking( transmission downshifts) without coming to a stop and suddenly when the signal turns green and when u accelerate ,Do you notice any transmission shift differences with the upshift from the previous downshifts?

i mean does the transmission take time to judge the upshifts from the downshift?

There's currently a long thread focused on the hesitation when transitioning from braking to acceleration. It's a variation of the same complaint.

I notice the transmission downshifting abruptly in part throttle shifts. An example is moving at a steady 35mph and the road rolls to a small hill and the trans downshifts to maintain speed, without giving more throttle. That type of downshift tends to be noticeably jerky. I'm around 800mi.

I had the same type of feeling at initial miles, now at 6K miles, its very smooth. If say by 3-4K you dont notice the difference, maybe see your dealer.

It's not something that would warrant a dealer visit, besides, they'd just say it's normal. I knew the transmission wasn't flawless before I bought it. If it improves over time, great. I'm not unhappy, just acknowledging that it's not always smooth.. At least for now.

I am happy with transmission other than acceleration hesitation, but not clear if its trans issue

Do you feel the transmission downshifts as well? ...its kind of a push forward during downshifts? ...is that normal..?

And does the acceleration hesitation mean when you suddenly press the acceleartor when the trans is downshifting?( like coming towards a red signal whichsuddenly turns green) And it takes some time to find the right gear.?

hesitation is when you are at low throttle and then punch gas and nothing happens for almost a second before power kicks in.
do a search, there is a big thread about it
