Maintenance Schedule

Maintenance Schedule
Can anyone tell me how to read the Maintenance Schedule for the 2019 RDX? (Or other years?)
There are a bunch of numbers, but nothing to tell me how often things like the transmission fluid should be changed.
I can’t find any regularly stated schedule.
It’s all so convoluted!

That's because it's based off of the maintenance minder.... which is based off your specific driving habits.
you will drive differently than someone else, resulting in different maintenance schedules...
if you wanted cold hard numbers; you can pick your own scheduling. ie; screw the computer and do oil changes every 6K miles. transmission fluid change every 30k miles...brake fluid every 3 years...and so on and so on
However, the computer makes it so easy for you...when a number pops up on the screen, take it in. lol
mostly, it's all arbitrary.
so decide if you're the kind of person who has a strict maintenance schedule and create and perform your own schedule, based off hard numbers.
or
you can let the computer decide.
The art of maintenance is the art of visual intelligence. most times, a visual inspection of components is needed to see if something is worn out or broken.

There in lies the crux to the question. I had my oil changed yesterday and I thought that I was told that the transmission oil needs to be replaced every 30,000 miles. On a 10 speed tyranny, they had it priced at $400! Earlier models had the fluid changed every 120,000 miles....
Do they flush the transmission to change the fluid in the torque converter?
What changed, profit margins?

if you're going to a dealer, they're just stealing your money.
it's the man hours, or labor hours.
here is a DIY thread from odyclub

Ody members are getting quoted the same, around $400

Was transmission service code displayed by your MID, or dealer is trying to suggest proactively changing it at 30K miles @ $400 ?
I think under normal driving conditions the transmission service is every 60K miles. I would not do it at 30K, unless you towing a lot.

Thanks for the replies ALL!
There was only the oil change code this time (20k miles) but they were telling me about future visits...
I have no problem with doing it myself, I’m a backyard mechanic from way back. Been doing it most of my life.
I do have an extended warranty on this vehicle that they need proof of all maintenance, but I think I can do this one.
Many thanks!

I have B 1 2 7 Indicated. Now at 40%. 7 Is brake fluid. I live in a VERY dry desert, I doubt there is any water in the fluid. I want to be informed before going to dealer. I don't think I have ever changed brake fluid on a vehicle, that didn't need a brake job. What have people been paying to replace the brake fluid at the dealer? Other comments? Thanks!

When my 2019 RDX was 2 years old, I got the maintenance code B17 so I booked a dealer appointment online for the brake fluid change.
The dealer wouldn’t perform the service saying that it was not due until the car was three years old.
If Acura thinks it’s important enough for the maintenance minder, when it comes up on my 2021, I will insist they do it. IIRC it was around $240.

Looking it up on line, 7 means to replace the brake fluid. I have <24k miles on the car and it was manufactured in December 2018. If they refuse to do the flush, no problem. I'll have them do it at the next interval.

Just got the B17 code on the maintenance reminder and there is no 7 in the Acura app. The Support feature only goes up to 6.

they cant refuse, you tell them you want brake fluid changed, period. Dont need their advices.

It is brake fluid. Weirdly (but is it really?), a lot of Acura's documentation did not keep up with the creation of a brake fluid code. And why would anyone refuse to do a service----kind of the bread and butter....although recently we had a Firestone dealer refuse to change out 18 year old power-steering fluid on an Accord (78,000 miles)...so, there's that. They said it has to be at 100,000 miles.
Our Acura dealer on our last oil change did want to change our rear end and transfer case (I think that's what it was) fluids. Our RDX A-Spec is a 2019 and is at 8900 miles. They said that changing these fluids does not show up on any schedules yet, and what they didn't say, is that we just want to pad our profits.
