If it’s the ball socket and it’s loose, you might be screwed. The video posted is if the mirror stalk becomes loose over time where it attaches to the windshield. If it’s actually loose at the socket, that video isn’t going to help. You’d have to take the assembly off and inspect it.
Just like beverlylincke , I accidentally knocked my rearview mirror loose as well in my 2019 tech. I tried to put in back, but have no luck in doing so. Anybody has similar experience and able to reinstall the rearview mirror?
It should be covered under the 4yr/50,000 mile bumper-to-bumper basic warranty. I would let the service manager know the rear view mirror seems loose on you next M.I.D. service. There might be a known issue or a future TSB on this problem down the road for others.
. In the video he uses a pick but I didn't have one so I used a paint can key which worked great with the lip on it. You could use a small screw driver but use caution and focus on the 2 clips on each side of the housing. Once you get one side released, the whole piece comes right off.
Once the plastic housing is off, release the middle plastic piece that covers the mirror arm.
There are pictures in this thread that show the mount that is glued to the glass as well as the mirror arm. Holding the mirror at a 45 degree angle, align the arm with the mount. Pressing firmly, turn the mirror until it pops into place. Essentially you are just screwing it on with a total of 1/4 of a turn.
Reassemble the housing by putting the big piece back on first and then the small piece that covers the arm.
The project took less than 10 minutes and was pretty easy, albeit, I am pretty mechanically inclined. All that said, if you don't want to do this, don't take it too the dealer as they will charge the diagnostic fee plus about 30 minutes of shop time. ANY glass replacement company can do this in no time and may not even charge you if you are a regular customer.

I saw on videos that I needed to push the mirror up against the bolt head that is on the windshield at an angle, then twist to the right to get it to seat. I couldn’t get this to work and I tried over and over and over. Finally I dabbed a little WD-40 on all of those edges and it was able to slip into place the next time I tried it.
