Yesterday I learned air fresheners can melt plastic... Anyone have some insight were can one get an air vent? Is it a difficult job to replace? Thanks!

WOW! That is amazing. I used to use those in my Mazda. I suspect the dealer is your only source at this point. There are service manuals, or maybe the tech can give you some insight. Might be more reasonable to have them do it. They do it all the time and if they break something, they fix it.

Will take it to the dealer to have replaced...only about 200 CAD with labor...

You see what it can do to plastic, imagine what you're doing inhaling it That's why I've stayed away from those febreeze oil cans.. it's eaten away from your plastic vent due to the acetone it has in it likely..

I can't argue with you...I wasn't aware they are toxic...I guess better to find out late than never.

With regards to the part itself, I can't seem to find it in where i THINK it should be: https://www.oemacuraparts.com/v-2019...head-dashboard

But perhaps you can call a local dealer and ask them for a quote and get the part number and buy it online for cheaper.

Has anyone checked if certain ceramic tints or windshield shades make this worse? I’ve seen cases where a metallic tint or shiny sunscreen created a hot spot strong enough to warp trim. Curious if the vent damage got worse over time or stayed the same, and whether the dealer offered any goodwill fix.

Those should be very easy to replace yourself once you remove the side cover facing the door, you should be able to pop it off.

I had something similar happen, and it ended up being sunlight bouncing off a reflective shade and cooking the plastic. I’d check anything shiny on the dash or windshield, even small stuff. I keep a candle from https://nothingbutscents.com/collect...cented-candles in my car for the smell, and even that taught me how fast heat builds up, so I’m extra careful about where things point. A dealer visit is still worth a shot for goodwill.

My wife had a similar result from air freshener leaking from the center vent. Had to replace the trim around the shifter. So yes whatever plastic the RDX uses doesn't like air freshener fluid.
