USB intermittent
Whenever I've had the occasion of either Carplay or USB drive not working on startup, I've just used the three finger reboot process and upon reboot everything talks fine. I've added a link below to a different thread that speaks to how to do the three finger reboot.

Hey experts: I traded my RDX for a new Integra ASpec. My USB drives will not read in the new car. I had the Service Dept dude who is their expert try it….he put it into a new RDX and it worked fine, but in my Integra it says it is not recognized. Any thoughts?
Sorry just throwing out all that I would guess would be the difference with the Integra. Good luck!
Break out the integra manual and see what it says about formats.
I posted this on the Integra pages but will appreciate any ideas from the awesome RDX owners I hung out with since 2019
Well, it is surprising in ways that are good and ways that are really disappointing. First the good: a smaller cabin makes for a more expansive sound. The speaker placement is similar to that in the RDX, and the subwoffer is located in the side of the cargo area.
Disappointing is that for some unknown reason my USB drives I made of my own (and contributed!) FLAC files, including some awesome tracks in 5.1 (THANK YOU, Jon). I found one of my smaller (32GB) drives that the system accepts. I included some 5.1 tracks on the drive and the unit in the car won’t play them. It skips over parts and then stops as if to try to play it but then skips through the song.
When I purchased the car, I put one of my 1TB combo USB-A/USB-C drives into the USB port and I got a message saying that the drive is unreadable. My plan was to come here and ask for help with this issue. Then I tried the drive that Jon sent me and same thing. I went through my “stuff” cabinet and picked up random USB-A drives and found one that plays, the other identical was not playable. They were from the same purchase, exactly the same. I will check the formatting on the one that doesn’t work and see if it is different from the one that does work.
The one USB that is working produces nice crisp sound from the FLAC files I either purchased from ProStudioMasters or converted myself using dBpoweramps music converter app. So, I am loving my tunes (both classical and progressive rock) in my new car. Any ideas on resolving the inconsistency of reading drives that worked fantastic in the RDX but not the Integra are welcome. If you all will let me I would still like to visit here too. God bless you all!

I will look in your manual and see what I can find.
23 or 24?
plug your Drive into your computer and look at properties and see what the file system says. Report back!
Thanks! I got a 2024 A-Spec white over red, 6 speed manual of course….I love shifting! I will try formatting one of my big ones with fat 32 and get back with you for sure. So, I looked at the formats my Mac would reformat the drive and I get EXFAT but no fat32 option. Any thoughts? I can do AFPS at various levels of security and the MacOS Extended as my only options.

You can indeed format devices over 32GB as FAT32. It must be done in Windows OS from a Command Window, however. This won't help Padre Dave since he is using MAC.
Anyway, if you open a Command Window as Administrator and enter the following:
Format /FS:FAT32 <USB drive letter>:
For example, if your USB shows up as drive K:, you would type: Format /FS:FAT32 K:
The usual warnings apply here, i.e., this will erase all existing data on the device, so back up whatever is on the device if you want to keep it.
I found this document on the Acura Navigation pages that talks about doing this.

I also have no issues with ExFAT format.

The volume is too big for FAT32.
So, looks like this method will not do what Padre Dave needs.
I did some research and found an article showing a Command Window method using the "diskpart" utility. After following the steps in the article, it returned:
The volume size is too big.
It appears you cannot format a >32 GB device using FAT32.
I did see references to third-party tools that supposedly can do it, but I don't care to do any further testing of this, particularly with third-party tools.
Sorry for the incorrect information. Perhaps these methods worked in the past, but it appears they no longer do.

For my music I opted to go with 2-32gb flash drives, formatted to Fat32 on Windows 10's right click/properties/tools/(full)Format.
Everything has been working great and is speedy!
It's a much smaller volume of music, so that makes sense, less folders to go thru.
I also moved to using FLAC files for this.
I have been waiting for the car to finish booting up before indexing folders, a couple times I didn't wait long enough and got a message.
But indexing was plenty fast.
I expected the quality of FLAC files to be incredibly better, but honestly, I only hear about a 10% improvement.
However the stereo in my 2020 Acura RDX is amazing for music, so that much improvement is a LOT!
Flac files bass sound is way warmer, but highs are a bit "harsh" to me, I wound up turning it often, but then it lost beauty.
Finally I just went in to EQ and dropped the Highs 1 click, and boosted the Bass one click.
Perfect for my bad old ears.
I still pop in the old 256Gb drive for MP3s that I don't have FLACS for, and they still sound great, wait time is reasonable for 8X the music.

they could tweak it if they wanted to with an update.
Your EQ fix and mine are similar, but at times the bass seems to “over” grow in louder passages. I’ll try your EQ and see it that helps smooth things out.
I like surprises, and would be surprised if Acura bothered to fix the harshness in an update. It’s such a nitpicking thing.
Thanks for the info, much appreciated.
I use the USB to connect a 3rd party device that allows CarPlay to work without a cable plugged into the phone. A road with a few bumps apparently causes the cable to lose continuity with the port and if it does not come back on its own, I unplug the cable and plug it in and it reconnects nearly all of the time. I think the standard for a USB port and cable connection was designed with a desk top in mind, not bouncing out on the highway and the road surface does not have to be that bad for this to happen.
THIS Is the same issue I have been having with my 2021 RDX since August of 2023. Last week was the FIFTH time with that crap car in the shop and they continue to say that it doesn't disconnect for them and works just fine when they have it, yet every other corner I take, Android Auto is unavailable and goes off and on constantly the dealership REFUSES to do anything about it. Were you able to get any help or answers from the dealership you go too? I am in Lou, KY And they aren't helping at all!
ANYONE get help from the dealership?! MY Android Auto only works every other day, if that, but the dealership refuses to help since it just seems to work when they have it. FIFTH time last week at the dealership since August of 2023 and still NOTHING Is resolved or fixed. Thanks in advance!

WOW! Good to know! One would "think" the stupid dealerships would tell you that information, but from my experience sine August of 2023, NO ONE cares about helping you with anything once they have your money for the car. THANK YOU for this input!! So thankful I found this page full of others dealing with what I have been since I bought this Lemon.

You are right! My husband has spend HOURS In that place since August of 2023. I have bought a TON Of different android auto cords to make this car work and YES, the dealership is ZERO help and continues to act like I AM the problem, NOT the stupid car.
Any idea how to JOIN this class action lawsuit or find out more information? I continue to be SCREWED thanks to this 2021 RDX and my dealership does NTOHING to help or resolve anything and I have FULL+ warranties. This is SO upsetting, but like you, I have continued to say what is so LUXURY About this car?! NOTHING because it doesn't even work accurately.
I pretty much share your experiences with a '19 Advance other than having some early infrequent, intermittent issues with the infotainment system when playing content through the USB port either off a flash drive or when using CarPlay. A series of system updates took care of most of those issues by 2021, your model year.
I am ready to find me an attorney thanks to the LOUISVILLE, KY CRAP Dealership. I have NEVER had so many issues in my life with a so called "LUXURY" melon of a car. Infosystem doesn't work, even when I wait and allow her to warm up before backing up. I don't know what else to do at this point. Anyone know of OPEN lawsuits going on for this I may be able to join?
Do you have ANY suggestions on which cord to buy as I have tried at least ten different cords now, one being almost $90 to make android auto wireless but of course that doesn't work in this LOVELY "luxury" 2021 RDX either. If I can't get my money back or sue the ignorant place (which I am in conversations with an attorney now) I am stuck with this lemon and have been SO stressed out over this since August of 2023.
TIA for ANY advice anyone has! MUCH APPRECIATED as the dealership is ZEROhelp.

Did you update your infotainment software to the latest? Make sure its the latest.
Another advice, wait for infoteinment to fully come up before putting car in reverse to back out. It might help, but not guaranteed.
The infotainment is junk.
THANK YOU for your response! I greatly appreciate all the help I am finding on this website. The lovely Dealership (Louisville, Kentucky Oxmoor 🤡💩
are the ones who constantly keeps telling me it's ME or MY cords. When you are correct, it is nothing like that, it's the car and the infotainment system. I have blamed the USB since August of 2023 since you like said, it for sure is NOT the cords and they act like I'm the idiot and so is my husband. IDK HOW Acura can get away will selling such CRAP that is so overly expensive its a joke

Also yes, my husband has officially been to that stupid dealership 5 times for this issue since August of 2023 and they of course updated the system after I did. I did it ALL trying to make this POS lemon work, I went almost switched to APPLE just to use car play, but thankfully I know now that THAT is definitely not the issue either. Reading that this is happening to 2024 owners who bought way better cars than my basic 2021 RDX has my mind blown daily. I can't believe we can't sue them over this
I tried that a few months after dealing with the ignorant dealership. I paid about 39,000 for it in August of 2023. I can only get around 24k for it now, so I feel 100% screwed. I would just like my so called "LUXURY" car and hard earned money I gave them to be worth something, not a total loss.TRUST ME, I would love nothing more to get rid of it now. I have had Honda's ALL my life. This was truly my DREAM which I thought was an upgrade. Now, I will never buy Honda or Acura again once this is gone.
I hear what you are saying.
However, I just find it hard to believe, that for over 26 years of your adult life and consistently returning to Honda products, this single electronic issue would so vehemently sour your feelings towards the brand?
With that said, I also have had two Honda products since 1990 (excluding lawn mowers), in the past, and currently have two Acura products, though they are over 20 years old & have not had as near as much of a problem with them.
I hope you find a remedy soon, since the recourse of a sale is prohibitive right now for you.
