2022 RDX Head unit crash
Hi gang,
While on a short road trip today, I came across an issue with my head unit that I thought I would share with you, along with its fix. I had stopped for a while, did some sightseeing and while connecting my phone to the head unit during startup and trying to engage Android Auto, I couldn't get it to connect. I had my phone connected via cable. I disconnected the phone from the cable and reconnected to see if that would solve the issue; it didn't. I then recalled that sometimes the head unit would have issues that could only be solved by shutting off the car and rebooting the system. So, while sitting in the car, I shut off the engine and the head unit screen continued to show "connecting" with the swirling circle showing it was working. I figured it would stop after 45 seconds or so, but it remained on screen with the car off for a few minutes. I decided to drive to a nearby gas station, ran inside and after purchasing a few items, came back and restarted the car. The head unit then worked fine. It seems when you want to reboot the system, you need to get out of the car completely, rather than stay inside. I figured I would mention it in case others are having this issue.
A couple of weeks ago I did download the updates for the system, so I know I'm up to date. I found the experience strange; but thanks to this forum, I knew we've been having some issues, I just didn't think it would require actually getting completely out of the vehicle in order to get the system to restart properly.

There's an easier way that involves a 3-finger reboot.
Hold down the three buttons below the touchpad simultaneously for a few secs until you get to the diagnostic screen. Select the 2nd box from the main menu, then select the “hardware autodetect” box. Click exit without changing anything and allow the system to reboot. You can do all of this while the car is in motion and it takes about 15 seconds.
