I've read some older threads about how aftermarket head units won't work in this car. Has anything changed since then? What are the technical reasons this won't work?

And if an aftermarket head unit won't work, can the head unit from a tech package RDX be easily swapped into a non-tech car? I would like a touchscreen of some sort rather than the basic-looking head unit.
