Touch pad + CarPlay

I have about 600 miles on my RDX and while driving it today the touchpad seemed to be having a really tough time while in CarPlay registering my touches to move the cursor. For example, moving in Apple apps to get to the overview and then back to the bottom left to hit the Hole button. It seemed to work fine outside of CarPlay (yes, I know they operate differently). Has anybody else seen this behavior?

On a related note, I also have a tough time swiping between the screens on the right hand side. I flick it, but maybe I’m doing something wrong?

Try going into the menu and increasing the touch pad sensitivity. Mine works a bit better since I did that.

I took me a few minutes to get the swipping working. You need to swipe till the very end of the first screen and continue swipping, that would show the second screen. Basically the cursor should be at end of the screen and then swipping more would take it to next screen.

So what do you guys think about the Touch Pad and Car Play now? During my test drive, it seemed really really cumbersome. But after you guys have used it, do you get used to it so that it's not so bad anymore?

I was used to it in less than 1 week. Go test the system in a Lexus, and compare the ease of use back to back. With that said, I don't use Car play, so I can't comment how that integrates.

Nah, touchpad swiping in Carplay still sucks compared to how the touchpad works outside of Carplay.

It could be better within CarPlay (Acura version is much better), but I’d still choose this over a touch interface.

I have no problems with the Apple Car Play and navigating with the touchpad. It is a little hit and miss, but gentle touch that corresponds to where the button on Car Play is located. I guess I find it pretty intuitive, as I have used Macs since 1983 and have had a lot of iPads and laptops from both Windows and Apple. Just play with it, practice it and be gentle. It doesn’t take much pressure and the lateral moves are really close together.

I have big hands and it took me a lot of practice for me to be at this point. Tomorrow? Who knows.....

I really like the Acura touch interface so much so that I now hate using Apple Car play. If I could only get iPhone messaging natively without car play I would very very happy!
