Secondary Information Area Question

Hello, I've recently purchased a 2019 RDX w/ Advance Package, and so far, I am loving the vehicle.

I had a quick question about rearranging the order of Secondary Information Area "cards", as the RDX manual calls it.
(The smaller screen on the right)

I believe the factory setting ordered as

"Now Playing Audio"
then
"Navigation"
then
"Clock"

Every time I turn on the vehicle, the secondary information always starts with "Now Playing Audio",
But I would like it to always start in "Clock".

Page 252 and 253 of the manual only shows you how to cycle through it, not how to rearrange the order...

If it is impossible to reorder, I just want the "Clock" to be the first one that shows up in the Secondary Information Area when I turn on the car.

Any response and advice will be greatly appreciated!

You are stuck with the default. Nothing you can do at this time.

Boo... that sucks
I guess that is one more thing for me to train myself to do every time I start the car: Engine Start, Auto Idle Off, and swipe to Clock

Thank you for the quick reply!

YW.

Engine on. Let it boot if possible. Auto idle off. Start Nav, hit the minus button 2 or 3 times to get enough scale. Decide whether music or time on the secondaries. Put car in reverse, engage foot brake, disengage parking brake.

Try to remember WhereTF I was planning to drive to.

You make a vital point in that turbocharged cars should warm up before driving off. My Mazdaspeed 3 idles loud and low, but I always wait till the tachometer goes to the normal idle value. I am continuing that practice with my RDX.

Don't forget to check the flaps and the secondary hydraulic systems. And kindly ask the cabin crew to prepare for push-back.

WTH? I don't warm up my car, I just turn it on and then go. My understanding is that modern cars don't need to "warm up." Is everyone but me sitting around in your car for a minute before driving?

I boot the computer, not warm up the car.

And yes, I check the flaps, look for leaks, make sure the gyro is caged and the magnetos are working right.

Doesn’t everybody do a walk around on the car? Am I freaking that old of a guy?

I usually get my wife to remove the chocks, too. Otherwise it is a bumpy start, even before the "cold second gear" thing.

If we didn’t get a laugh out of this car we’d be crying. :-j. My condolences to anyone who bought the 2019 RDX expecting to enjoy a trouble free ride. It’s just a bit of daily aggravation.

Why make it personal? This site is to report our experiences. You have just joined in the last two weeks. So far all you are doing is berating comments you do not agree with. Make your case like everyone else. What model Acura do you own, how long have you driven it, is it trouble free...? These are things that could contribute to the forum.

It's been great. So great that I'm going to go to every single thread on this forum and say so because I bet that will convince everyone to listen to me.

Back to the topic: it is my understanding that engines with turbochargers should have a warm up idle to prolong the bearings in the turbo. That is my practice with my Mazdaspeed 3 (now with 118K miles on original turbo). I figure I can use the time to get my CarPlay going and getting settled in for the takeoff.

I always warm up the car when it’s cold. Talk to any transmission guy.

I never warmed up my twin turbo 535i beyond starting it up, pulling out of the garage, and driving gently until it was warmed up. I never had any problems with the turbos in 11+ years and 120+K miles.

I lease so not an issue as it will always be in warranty while in my possession and at 3 years or before I just either lease another Acura or
its time for something different. Damn though, best seats ever and the driving dynamics are nothing short of awesome but I am thinking i
need more power so I am thinking perhaps something other than a Acura. Needs to be a SUV though around the same size.

In the meantime Turn on vehicle, select Sport+, crank Apple Music and off we go.......drive it like you mean it......

i drove SAAB turbos for many years. Originally they were air cooled and required a cool down period if they were put away “hot”. There was a danger that the shaft could warp. I never heard of a warm up requirement even back in the day. Modern turbos are water cooled so you don’t need to take any special precautions beyond what you would do for your engine. Warm up in extremely cold weather can’t hurt but otherwise just start and drive.

Old routine on my old IS 250
  • Start the car
  • Phone connects to BT
  • Tasker app (I have an Android) on the phone kicks in, runs its automated tasks for driving: gps on, sms reading outloud on, autoreply on, say outloud reminders (don't forget to close the garage, etc...)
  • Ask Google weather, play the news, or just play music
  • Drive
New routines with the 2020 RDX
  • Start the car
  • Wait a bit for AA to initialize (reduces the chance of AA not connecting, thanks @Madd Dog )
  • Plug in the phone
  • Pray AA connects successfully
  • Switch to BT audio if AA doesn't connect
  • Listen to Tasker reminders
  • Ask Google weather, play the news, or just play music
  • Drive

Good idea. I'll put a sticky note on the dash until such time as I train myself. Reminds me of aircraft cockpit procedures.

Thank you for the quick reply!
My sequence:

1. start the engine
2. connect iPhone for carplay
3. seatbelt
4. disengage parking brake
5. engage brake hold
6. engage LKAS
7. reverse (or drive)

I swear I feel like I’m about to pilot a plane when I do all that.

I really wish there was more use for the b-zone screen or to do away with it altogether at times.
