Running USB cable to armrest console

Has anyone tried discreetly running a usb cable from the cup holder area to the armrest console? I realize i could just run a usb cable but I wanted to know if anyone has been able to run it discreetly maybe under the console so it's hidden? around where I live there is big problem of people going around looking into cars and opening them if they see something or breaking the window...I imagine if they see a white cable coming out the cup holder area they would assume there is an ipod/iphone connected to it. I usually leave an ipod connected and I'm coming from a 3G MDX where the usb was in the console so this was not a problem. Or any ideas? thanks!

Thieves only break into cars when they can visually confirm an item is in the car (like a phone, laptop, purse, etc.). If all they see is a cable, it is assumed you took the phone (or whatever) with you.

There's no point breaking into a car for a "chance" of getting something good. If you are that concerned, make sure that end of the USB cable is clearly not connected to anything.

I rerouted mine but not to the armrest console. However, the process would be the same, and it wasn't very difficult.

Remove the snap-on panels from the footwell and the very back of the console. Remove all the screws and, with a little finagling, the center-console should lift out. The USB port is snapped into the center console, so detach it, plug in your USB extension, and route it how you'd like.
