Question '07 TL USB ports

Tried to hook up my iphone 5 with lightening cable (USB) to the USB ports in center console to play songs in my phone and it just does not work. Am I doing something wrong? In my jeep I just plug my phone in and USB to radio and it plays automatically. Any setup in menu or do I have to have an adapter or what?
Thanks Daniel

There is a stereo jack below the USB plugs in console. I can plug into that and it will play but have to take phone out of case and screw the jack into phone. Is there a USB cable that changes USB to stereo jack? That would be easier to do that and leave stereo jack plugged up and just flip door down on phone case and plug up. "You sure iPod cable is plugged up" that was a funny one. Thanks got the help and if anyone has info on where to get a cable (if it exist) please let me know.

if youre talking about this http://www.tmart.com/USB-Male-to-3.5...e_p134563.html

And I Quote:
Features
  • 18cm / 7.09" USB Male to 3.5mm Stereo Headphone Jack Cable
  • This product fits for MP3 PC
  • Connector 1: USB A MALE
  • Connector 2: 3.5mm Plug
  • Allows you to connect your audio devices to USB port
  • This USB2.0 cable is compatible with Windows2000 / XP / Vista / Win7
The 07 TL does NOT have a USB port in is as others have said.

'07 TL's don't have USB. They have two connectors in the console, power and audio jack. I usually use the audio jack with my iPhone 4 since my case has a hole to access it. However, I also have an old Motorola bluetooth dongle that I can plug into the audio jack. Then I can use the dongle, and the TL-S stereo, as a stereo headset for the iPhone. Unfortunately, it requires me to push a button on the dongle, which is just as much hassle as the 2 seconds it takes for me to simply plug in the jack. Since the jack seems to give marginally better sound quality I choose to just use it.

Sick TSL you trying to be smart is not working pimping. You plug the stereo jack into the console the other side is USB connection and so you plug the iPhone 5 lightening cable into that. Sound better?

If that is the device you bought the features say it allows you to go from audio to USB, so it is possibly only a one way thing, not USB to audio..

I assume you are addressing me... i have had my center console out multiple times. I hate to tell you, the wiring that plugs into the jack for the 3.5mm is NOT USB. it is simply a 6/7 pin plug with standard wiring.

By all means man, try it and if it works, good! But im telling you from experience, there is no USB plug back there because it would have been utilized by someone on this forum by now! Especially by me.

You might have one of those low profile usb car adapters in the 12v center console socket. Maybe its short enough that it looks like a part of the car. Either way, everyone answered your question appropriately and it won't work; you will achieve nothing with that usb socket besides charging your phone. You can use something like this
Amazon.com: 3.5mm Audio Line Out + 30pin Usb Dock Cable for Iphone Ipod: MP3 Players & Accessories Amazon.com: 3.5mm Audio Line Out + 30pin Usb Dock Cable for Iphone Ipod: MP3 Players & Accessories
with a 30 pin to lightning adapter if you want to charge your phone and still get the audio transmission through lightning.
rest it up to you

Ha you are a funny guy too.
This is why I started this thread. 08TList and sauceja have been the only ones that seem to have a solution. I was looking for a solution and thought I found one but I did not know that the cable could be one way or both ways in and out. All I saw was 2 USB ports "chargers" or whatever you feel like calling them and the stereo jack. This is what I want to do: get in my car open flap on iPhone plug it in and listen through the stock stereo.
I do not know what isimple is or which one to purchase. Any help with information would be great.

Do a search, you're not the first to have this question. Listen to the others who have already given you the information.

This works great:
Amazon.com: Kensington 2-in-1 Charger and Audio Cable for iPhone/iPod, including iPhone 4S: Electronics Amazon.com: Kensington 2-in-1 Charger and Audio Cable for iPhone/iPod, including iPhone 4S: Electronics

Split cable, one to power outlet, one to iPhone dock port. So you get sound to the audio system, vol control via car control, and charging.

Used with iPhone 4, now use with 5 (add this adapter for iPhone 5: http://store.apple.com/us/product/MD...AOS-US-KWG-PLA)

Previous report here: https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-audio-bluetooth-electronics-navigation-94/usb-work-aux-836322/

I've been using mine over a year, no issues. Maybe there's now a lightning port version?
