Feeding USB/iPod connection through console

Has anyone found a way to feed the ipod connection through the back of the center console into the tray that the ipod/iphone can rest in? I'm starting to get annoyed with the cable being fed out of the front of the console and it's starting to wear part of the armrest.

I figured someone had found a workaround. I realize I can do bluetooth, but since I'm in the car a decent amount, I prefer to charge my phone.

Thanks

I think the only real workaround would be using a drill or dremel to get that cable up thru into that pocket... would be interesting to see someone do it...

Yeah I'm surprised this hasn't come up to add a clean look, and not sure why they didn't do that with some sort of plug like the shelf in the 3g's? I'm afraid I'll crack the whole pocket if I use a drill?

If anyone else has any ideas, I'm all ears.

I've been thinking of the same thing, I have two cords sticking out right now, one dedicated to iPod, and one i use to charge my phone, I've been heavily contemplating dremeling through...would love to hide all the wires

I keep the iPhone in the tray and the iPod inside the console all the time, with no wire in the open.

Since you can use the iPod controls on the NAV screen, and since the voice controls work fairly decently with the iPod, why do we need to have the iPod out in the open at all?

I'm sure I'm being obtuse and missing something.

I do the same. I use an older iPod that lives in the console and my phone charges in the tray.

I update my iPod classic fairly often, so im constantly taking it in and out of the car, so I keep it in the tray, I keep my iphone on top of the slide out cup cover for easy access

simiiar here, I update my iphone enough, but there's plenty of music on there or on Pandora running. I'm on the phone a ton for work so when I'm in my car I would like it to be charging.

I get really sick of having to feed the usb cable through slot provided and through the crack on the side of the tray.

I know this is an old thread, but has anyone come up with a solution to charge their phone in the center console tray? I kind of want to take the center console lid apart to figure out where it would be best to drill the holes to feed a USB cable through. Has anyone tried this?

I was also thinking about a more ambitious project to install a Qi wireless charging pad in/under the tray. It would be super convenient to just drop my phone in the tray without having to fumble around with a cable all the time.
