Retrofit RDX 2020 infotainment control unit
Hi
Did anyone think about retrofitting RDX 2020 with RDX 2023 infotainmnet control unit? and what is the specification differences between both control units. I am planning to do it, and I want to see if RDX 2023 has more powerfull android base infotainmmet unit or not?

The Infotainmnet control unit used is like 250$ and the cables harness will cost about 50$. I will build the harness to convert the 20 pin connector of RDX 2020 to 24 pin connector of RDX 2023, and I will get the GVIF/LVDS cable If anyonecan provide their RDX 2023 infotainmnet specifications, it will be great. I will keep you posted if I will do it, and I will post the steps, parts and cost.

I am currently planning to do exactly this as well as the wireless charging, USB-C, and center console. Do you have the wiring diagram for the new infotainment? I have it for the original (2019) model.

I am still tring to find a solution for the display cable(LVDS). Did you find any solution? If you need any diagram; I can help. Let us team and work together to accomplish this.

Something to be aware of (straight from Acura documentation) - When adding a new infotainment unit to the vehicle, you must enter the anti-theft code or perform the anti-theft skip mode in the System Diagnostic Mode (this function will release the anti-theft mode until the vehicle is turned to the OFF (LOCK) mode). Wherever you purchase the new unit from, you'll need to make sure the anti-theft code if provided.
It'll also be good to be aware of the Dealer Diagnostics page, which is accessed by holding down BACK, HOME, and MENU until it shows up. From here, you can verify that components are functioning properly once you've installed the new infotainment. The system will likely also need an update, so this is a good opportunity to verify that OTA updates are working.

I haven't gotten that far into my research. I know the part number of the new unit is 39540-TJB-A24, which is on eBay for $300-$400.

Thanks
Thanks. I have all this, but the main point is where we will get the new harness to connect the new infotainmnet control unit to the display? The old harness ends will not fit the new control unit as one end is different from 2019-2021 port.

My initial thoughts are:
- Search the internet for Honda/Acura LVDS connector, 2-pin LVDS connector, or similar.
- Reverse image search the connector.
- Make a connector.

I was going to suggest buying the updated wire and splicing with the original, but it's sold within a $400 wiring harness.

I ordered all parts some are coming from aliexpress and the rest are coming from ebay. I will update you when all parts get delivered. I was lucky; I got infotainmnet control unit from ebay from RDX 2023 for 159$. For The LVDs cable, I believe the one from Lexus will fit as the infotainmnet control unit blue port is identical. I got the cable from ebay for 18$ (last one). All plugs and connectors from aliexpress is about 17$ so total cost till now is 194$. When connectors and plugs get delivered , I will create the 20 pin to 24 pin convertor cable. I will cross my fingers and I hope it will work. One question, do u know what is the function of the green port as it is not used for both infotainmmet unit. Do u think it is another usb or service port?

I'm not sure what the green port is used for. My guess is either what you guessed or something offered on the Advanced model (I have A-Spec).
What connectors did you find to match the 20-pin and 24-pin?

20 pin and 24 pin
Congrats on finding everything at such a great deal! I look forward to hearing your experience. Based on a conversation I had with a tech at my dealer over the weekend, it sounds like it'll work. I suggest disconnecting your battery when dealing with the electrical.

I finished the retrofit, but it did not work properly. Everytime it boots it goes to diagnostic, and it can not detect back, VR, and left. Once I go to diagnostic menu, and I do hardkey check, and i exit the diagnostic, it works properly, and I get wirless android auto and alexa . The performance is great, but once I resrart the car, it goes again to diagnostic.

Thanks. It was a challange, but I did it. To pass the in-line diagnostic, you need to hold the three buttons to reach the hidden menu then you hold menu button for few seconds a message will come showing diagnostic completion or incompletion. You click completion and you are done. Also, For the theft code you can get it from homda.com. it was quick, and i got the code in few seconds. On the honda site, search for theft code then choose Acura and entee your car vin and the new control unit serial number, and you will get the code immediatly.

That seems simple enough! I'm about the pull the trigger on ordering everything. Only piece I'm missing is the LVDS cable. You mentioned using one from Lexus. What part number is associated with that? None I found match the plug shape.

Super cool, congrats on the upgrade. I wish Acura offer an official upgrade package...
One question, does the AcuraLink app still work after the swap?

Thank you. It is not hard once you have all the parts.my biggest challange was the LVDS cable, and I found the right plug and cable. The only thing that will not work is the update! I am trying to find a solution. I believe the update is linked to VIN #, but I have everything else working like Acuralink, Acura app, remote starter, and all the infotainment functions are working fine.

I'm really curious how you managed to find the infotainment for only $159. The part number is 39540-TJB-AG1, right? I noticed a few different part numbers for what appears to be an identical unit, but this is the P/N I pulled from Acura's parts listing for '24 RDX. Not sure what the differences are.
I bought all the other components for this project, but have been waiting weeks for an eBay listing of the infotainment that isn't $300+.

It appears to be 39540-TJB-AG1; however, it's not clear enough to confirm.
Just curious, does your current factory Acura RDX system boot up with the 'H' symbol for Honda rather than something similar designating Acura?
Picture below take from his YT video.
Is it possible his unit came from a Honda model?

Somewhere in the three-finger settings, you can change the VIN associated with the infotainment unit. Maybe worth a try in due time when the next OTA drops.

If the picture below in post #17 were a little clearer (highlighted area), you'd be able to see the part #.

Hi
Mine boots as normal . No (H)display, as the one I got is for RDX 2023. I was lucky finding it at this price. Manufacture year is 2023. Take a look at the pictures.

I am thinking what could happen if I use honda odyssey or Pilot LCD and connect it to the RDX infotainment control unit? Do u think touch screen from Odyssey will work? And I will get touch screen? Just dreaming(lol)
