Nav. Background

Anyone know if the background color...I should say non color...can be altered? The pale “white” is distracting to me. Maybe I an just too used to the Garmin systems?

So far, only day, night, and automatic setting....nothing for color of background. Guess I’ll have to get used to the day “white out” appearance.

Can't you have night setting on and just have a dark colored background?

I'm not sure any Navi system let's you swap out background images as that would be an actual distraction.

Tried the dark night mode today....might be able to fiddle with contrast and make it work ok in daylight. Thanks for the suggestion.

Night mode was too dark for daylight even with modifications, but daylight mode works well with changes in brightness and contrast. Background is now grey rather than white...much better!

I discovered a quirk in the Nav screen day/night brightness this evening. I have the Nav display set to Auto Day/Night, with the contrast and black levels set the way I liked them. The screen switches appropriately between modes depending on the outside light level. But using the +/- buttons to adjust the Instrument Panel brightness tonight made the Nav screen switch to Day mode when the Instrument Panel brightness is at the very highest level (brightest). At night, the Day mode of the Nav screen lights up the whole interior of the car and makes driving visibility very difficult. But moving the Instrument Panel brightness down just one position (or more) changes the Nav screen back to night mode. Is this a feature or a bug? I can not find reference in the manuals to this 'feature'.

I’m gonna try that today. Might just be the way the lighting works....max adjustments sometimes override everything...

I also noticed this and feel it is a bug since manual settings work except maximum brightness. I keep the brightness level one below max as a workaround but it is not exactly what I want to achieve. I am yet to try out another option to max out the brightness during daytime and then check it after dark.

It's a feature. Max brightness is max brightness regardless of day or night. One click down, it goes back to automatic brightness which in turn enables night mode.
