Nav update: Background or full power?

I'm getting ready to upgrade and am wondering which method people used and their experience with it.

Recommendations?

Full power but don't forget to add your previous destinations to your address book because the update wipes them out. Learned the hard way.

I ended up doing it in the background so I can use it today. I didn't have many previous destinations that i wanted to keep, so I am ok with losing a few of them.

I've updated with both methods and I recommend the full-power update. Background update takes ages, during which the system operates slower than it usually does. It also makes startup take much longer where it'll verify updates and reboot itself all the time.

Full-power is much faster and if you really need to use nav right now, you can always cancel the update and resume it later.

Are there any ways to upgrade without getting 150 dollar disc? If I take it to the dealership can they do it for me?
