Mirror wire tap for dashcam

Has anyone tried installing a dash cam using a mirror wire tap kit instead of wiring to the fuse box??

Is there a certain specification in terms of voltage for these dash cams? Because the wire provided with it is a 12 volt to cigarette lighter adapter. I'm guessing the only thing that would matter here is the amperage of the fuse?

Are there instructions for this? The one thing preventing me from installing a dash cam is having extra unsightly wires in the cabin.

I used an adapter from Dongar on my first gen RDX, but I don't believe they have one out (yet) for the third gen. I chatted with the site a couple months ago, and they believe the 8-pin version they have in development should work for our cars. Still waiting for it to drop though. I've already taken apart the plastic covers, and I believe there is plenty of space in there to tuck in this adapter and squeeze the single USB wire out of it. Definitely room if you get a flat cable.
