Blind Spot Sensor Questions

Blind Spot Sensor Questions
1. Why are the yellow warning lights inside the car (which requires looking both inside and then outside at the mirror) rather than just putting the yellow lights on the outside mirrors themselves so you only have to look at one place (like on our CRV)?
2. When playing music on the loud side it is hard to hear the audio warning of the blind spot sensors. Any way to make it louder?
Thanks,
SV

I don't have my RDX yet - it keeps getting moved back - but I do have an Escape with the yellow spot that appears on the actual mirror when a car is in the blind spot. There have been times at night in the rain with all the lights reflecting off the mirror and the rain drops on the door glass that it is hard for me to see the yellow dot.
Fodder - something in plentiful supply (like opinion) but has relatively little value (my opinion).

Unfortunately, I guess it is what you get used to.
I had a 2012 TL that the BSI was in the same place. I can see the driver side light in my peripheral vision just when driving. The passenger side light is not quite as easy, but a small turn of the head and I can see it also.
System sounds can be changed, but it looks like there is not an individual setting for the BSI sound.

I have BSI on my 11 MDX and I like having it inside the vehicle. There are times I might have limited side mirror views like low sun, wet side mirror in heavy rain, snow/ice on side mirrors from winter driving, bright headlights behind me, fogged side windows, etc... If Acura was smart, they would put the BSI warning light in mirror and inside the cabin. Make the 360 degree camera standard and it turns on to show your blind spot everytime you use the signal to change lanes. They could also have the option to link BSI to LKAS/Lane departure steering inputs to steer you back if you still ignore the warnings.

I can see the light inside just fine. If it was on the mirror only, I don’t think it would be as easy to see. The beeps are helpful as well. I actually find myself relying more on the indicators than looking in the mirror. I know that’s not good, but if it’s not beeping then I know I’m good.

re audible alerts volume - I agree that they are no where near loud enough even after you have gone into the settings and set it to the "Loud" mode (default=Normal). With the very fine sound system in this vehicle which I really enjoy sampling every chance I get I seldom hear audible alerts. There should be an option for an annoyingly pitched tone that can cut through other noise in the vehicle.

I find the lights being on the inside MUCH better than on the mirror. You can see the indication if the windows are fogged or rain covered as well as easy to see in your peripheral vision. The BSI blinks when you attempt to change lanes and you can adjust the warning sound, if I recall

Settings / Vehicle / Meter Setup / Adjust Alarm Volume / High - Mid - Low
"Changes the alarm volume, such as buzzers, warnings, turn signal sound, and so on."

Thanks, I made the change to loud this afternoon. "Meter Setup", who would have guessed that is where alarm settings would be? Too bad it changes all these settings, I would just like the blind spot monitor to be a little louder, but not my turn signals. Time will tell if I wind up switching it back.

Is anyone having an issue with the Blind Spot Sensing not giving sufficient (advanced) warning. It seems that approaching car is right up to my rear bumper before the light comes on.
I took it in to the dealer and naturally they said no problem found!
I may try taking it into another. Dealer.

I have a 2019 Audi A6, on it the light comes on when a car approaches that is 2 car lengths behind. I expect it to come on when I can see the approaching car in the rear view mirror.
To add more frustration this issue only happens on the driver's side; the passenger side blind spot light is giving the advance notice properly (or at least where I expect it).

For me the light only appears where there is a car in the blind spot. If a car is approaching I can see it in the mirror, it only warns as it gets to the spot where I can't see it in the mirror.
I think other cars have a feature where it warns when a car is approaching, but I don't see the feature in the RDX.
The 25 MDX with Acurawatch 360 has a new lane change warning feature, I suspect that is what you are describing so it'll probably come to the RDX in a future year.

It is probably worth while to review the manual. In the 2022 RDX there are three detection zones and the "longest", which goes up to 82 feet as pointed out by PhillRDX, reads "The faster the
approaching vehicle, the further away it will be detected."
