Apple Carplay dropouts

e Hey folks, I am using an iPhone 11 in my RDX and am having spontaneous disconnects/reconnects using Carplay. Changed out the cords to a new Apple cord, but still happens. Thoughts? Suggestions? Thanks

Backup your phone and then restore it to factory fresh (wipe your phone). Restore your phone using the backup that you just made.

Are u talking about actual phone disconnects as what happens is u just unplug the phone while listening to music or just audio dropouts?

A factory reset was the only thing that worked for me.

Angry CarPlay Still Drops after factory reset.

Even after a factory reset, still drops off/disconnects from Apple CarPlay. Very frustrating.

Same issue. Assume something in latest iOS broke something. . . .

Anyone figure out the cause an/or solution to this issue yet? I've tried various cords so that's not the issue. I receive consistent apple car play connections and disconnections while plugged in and operating the vehicle. Extremely annoying to say the least.

Try restoring the infotainment system to factory defaults. You will lose all your presets.

I think this has more to do with iOS 14 as the dropouts happen in my wife’s VW SUV as well. Shame because with the last Acura system update, it seemed like most of the CarPlay bugs were worked out.

Talking

I have another thread on this issue downstream a bit, but as suggested, it is more often the Apple iOS version your phone is using than the cable you connect with. I am a public beta tester, so I am often getting different updates, and some work well and some do not. In my evaluation of the betas, I do include how the version works in my RDX, so Apple is usually aware of the issues if they look at their app.

Oh, BTW, I am currently on iOS 14.3 and it works pretty well now

This is what fixed all Apple CarPlay disconnects with my 2019 RDX Advance and iPhones...(I didn't reset the car or the iPhone)...1. Make sure the USB cord is already connected to the USB connector in the RDX console

2. While iPhone is locked, plug the phone into the USB cord

3. Start the car’s engine

4. Wait for the car’s Infotainment system to start up and detects the connected iPhone

5. CarPlay should automatically display in the Infotainment screen

6. Access and/or control CarPlay using the True Touchpad A (left screen) (do not touch your iPhone)

Following the above simple steps have solved my issues with CarPlay disconnects on my 2019 RDX for many months now.

Simply plug the phone into the USB connection before starting the car. That's it!

Hope this helps.
