Yes or no to tech package
Yes or no to tech package
Hey guys. Currently own a 2016 with the tech package. Lease is up in a month and getting a 2019. Salesman is saying tech package is not worth it since carplay can be used for navigation. I can see that but I don't like giving up the blind spot monitoring. We're looking at a difference of $60 a month so it's a significant amount. Just curious what you guys think. Appreciate it!

If it is all about the Benjamins, then maybe you should look at some other cars that are less expensive. Getting on the luxolease train actually costs more in the long run. Maybe buying a 2-3 year old CPO is more appropriate.

Although the leather seats and machined and gray wheels are nice, for me, the must haves in the Tech package were the ELS sound system and the parking sensors. I also prefer the built-in Nav.
100% worth it to me for leather and for parking sensors. It also has upgraded audio. If you're looking at it only for Nav, maybe it's not worth it. In fact, I mostly use my phone for nav (not with carplay).
I think Blind Spot is a must have. We in theory all learned to look over our left shoulder before changing lanes, but blind spot makes you constantly aware. We have a 2019 RDX with Tech and a 2016 MB GLC 300. I had the dealer find me a base GLC with blind spot, no Nav, no leather. We got the Tech in the RDX to get blind spot. Unfortunately we are victims of bundling. I'd shop around with a different dealer and also compare with a GLC. The GLC is a little more expensive, but you can get blind spot as a stand alone option.
I got pushed into the non-tech. I wish I went with the tech (however it would have pushed me at least an extra 80 bucks a month!) I didn't care about nor was it worth it for me to have the perforated leather, different rims, ELS or navigation but I miss the blind spot warning as I came from a 2016 tech.
Also none of my iPod's work with the 2019 infotainment. Overall I LIKE the car but I don't LOVE it. I miss my 2016 tbh. Also, the whole remote start system in this car is buggy with the app and I read the manual on how they install the actual key FOB module and its not worth having them take apart practically the whole hatch to install it. For the price jump of this vehicle overall....there should be a lot more refinement in the base model. It doesn't scream 'luxury' to me.

Thanks for all your posts! Picking up the tech model this week. Was able to get the payment lowered on the tech so now I'm only going to be paying $24/month more than what I've been paying for 2016 tech.
Adv + shawd is definitely worth it in my opinion. I would have regretted not getting these options. You feel like you can live without them but once you have them you realize you can't lol... I'm being facetious but serious at the same time...
I understand that not everyone who's willing to spend $40-45,000 for a car is necessarily willing to spend $50,000, but IMO, the Advance is worth it. I wouldn't change a thing.
