Wiper seating

After a little over 2 years I decided to replace the wiper blades. I purchased Rain-X latitudes (26" & 18"). Followed the instructions and replacement seemed to go fine. They locked in nicely to the J hook. However, the new blades don't seat as deep as the originals after running them. The wipers do sit in the black part of the windshield, but higher and not under the hood like before and I can see them from inside the car. Is that my imagine or is something out of whack. Appreciate you thoughts. Thanks.

The aftermarket blades (I’m using Bosch Icons) have a taller mount than the OEM blades so they have a higher profile.
The Rain-X must be even taller than the Valeo or Bosch blades.
You’re not imagining it.

Maybe it’s best to get new refills for the original blades from the dealer or an online Acura or Honda parts dealer. They are easy to change and cheaper as well.

Yeah, that's probably it. The Rain-X has a large attachment hump in order to accept any type of connection. In that I already spent $44 on the replacement blades I'll keep them. They do a nice clean quiet swipe so far. I just wanted to ensure that I didn't do something wrong in the replacement. Thanks.

Are you sure you don't have the blades in the "maintenance position ??

I use Bosch Icons and they pretty much look identical to the original blades that came with the RDX. No adapter is needed so they are still low profile like the original wiper blades.

No, no. I put them in the maintenance position to change the blades, but once you turn the car on they come back to the seated position. Just that seated seemed a bit higher than before I replaced the blades. As it's been mentioned, the replacement connector is much larger than the originals.

I just bought all new rubber yesterday while I was waiting for my car to be inspected.

Rubber, Blade (650MM) - Acura (76622-TJB-A01)
Rubber, Blade (450MM) - Acura (76632-TJB-A01)
Rubber, Blade (305MM) - Acura (76722-TJB-A01)

Those might actually be Honda P/Ns, not Acura. The packaging says Honda and the guy at Acura got confused. Total came to about $23, IIRC.

Oh, another important point, if you're only replacing the refill on the rear wiper - don't lose or throw away the metal stffeners. They don't come with the refill and they're needed. You can only get them by buying a new replacement blade. That's about a $35 item. Cheaper and easier to just replace the rubber.

I've never been able to find after market blades for the rear. Same one I had on my Honda.
