Driver and front passenger window

Has anyone tinted the front driver and passenger window? If so anything I should be looking for? Did not realize my 2018 RDX had tinting added to those windows and miss it.
Thank you,
Dan

Yes, I always tint the front door glass, without any issues. Here in AZ it is the rare vehicle that does not have tinted front windows.

Factory tint on rear windows is ~25-30% (anyone correct me if I'm wrong), so if you want to match them, go with 25% unless your local laws required a higher percentage visibility on front windows.

I personally wanted some more privacy and protection from hot sun in South FL, so I went with 16% in the front and 30% on top of the factory rear tints. Still, since we have a huge windshield, you can still see from outside thru the front windows.

Many, if not most, states have laws limiting the tint on the windshield and front side windows. Typically around 35%. OEMs usually tint side windows to around 30% to be safely within the laws in all states.

Check your local laws. And don't go by what they tell you at the local tint shop. They don't care.

I've heard of people around here getting nailed by cops with portable meters that measure the tint level.

Thanks everyone. Looks like my 2018 didn't follow local laws for Colorado. Never had an issue so think I will just have the same done on 2021 (front + back same darkness).

Looks like CO is 27% for the front windows. I doubt you'll be pulled over for it if it matches the factory rear window tint. If you're driving like an asshole, blasting your music and/or your car wreaks of weed (still illegal in CO while operating a motor vehicle) ... that might be a different story. Then again, CO is some whacky ass-backwards state that basically told its cops to go fuck themselves, so I doubt your cops are doing much of anything anymore.

For what it’s worth, I wouldn’t obsess over having the front and back match perfectly if your state doesn’t allow it. In my opinion, putting any reasonable level of tint on the front windows darkens the interior of the car enough to give the illusion that they match in most conditions. Only when you are looking at your car perpendicular to the sun will you really notice the 10% or so difference. So for that reason, I’ve always just gone with the legal limit.

it might go without saying, but find a highly rated local shop. Don’t use the dealer. Total cost for fronts should be around $100.
