weird intermittent issues with electrical system

Today I got back home from the grocery store and couldn't open the trunk as I normally do by pressing the button in the trunklid. Went to the driver door and tried to use the remote trunk release button and that didn't work either. So I got in the car, turned it on, and then the remote trunk release button worked.

An hour or so later went to pick up takeout. When I got back to the car, instead of driver seat being in its usual position (and all the way back), I found backrest tilted forward (and the seat wasn't all the way back either). I had to press the seat memory button to get it back in place. However, when I got back home I was able to open the trunk fine.

Any idea what may be going on?

Sounds like a low or failing 12-volt battery. When the battery voltage drops, comfort features like the trunk release and seat memory may not work with the car off, but start working again once the engine is on because the alternator boosts voltage. The seat moving out of position is also a common sign of a brief power or control-module reset. If your battery is a few years old, getting it tested is the first and most likely fix.

Odd. Have you checked to see if your battery is good? I had issues with the auto seat when my battery was loosing a charge for a few weeks before the vehicle would not start. I have a new battery and zero issues.

Just got the battery replaced a few months ago and auto idle stop has been working fine. Also recently changed the battery in the keyfob.

Check to see if the cables to the battery are tight, no corrosion and the battery is solid in the tray. Otherwise, if it happens more frequently and still under warranty - take it to the dealer. However, intermittent issues that can't be replicated at the dealership are hard to diagnose.

I have had key fob batteries that only last a few months. However your issue seems to be a loss in power to the vehicle, as the seat craziness and tailgate buttons should work flawlessly.

This hasn't happened again. This is why it was so weird. If it does, I will take it in for a battery check.
