I'm not exactly sure what you are asking, but I have not been able to get WAZE working on the RDX screen...
but I, like all of us, have only had the latest update that included AA for about 24 hours.
Same here ,, I have not been able to get Waze working on the RDX screen thru AA.
But if you just open the AA apps on your phone screen, i can get the WAZE apps working ..
So it seems that Acura's side of AA needs to be fixed to allow WAZE apps to show on the RDX screen
We all know that Google now owns Waze, right? And they have been adding some Waze features into Google maps. Example: On my short drive this afternoon I noticed the speed limit was displayed on the map screen using AA Google maps. Maybe Waze is going away? Dunno.
Same issue here. Waze was the #1 reason why I was looking forward to Android Auto, and of course it doesn't work. Text messages are not showing up either on the RDX screen, not seeing notifications from txts. I'm using a Galaxy S8 phone.
Yes, most people know that Google owns Waze. Google maps still has a long way to go to catch up to the features that Waze has, so it's kind of irrelevant though.
I don't believe Waze is going away. If you have a Ford car . The infotainment can run Waze on AA . That is why I believe this is an Acura issues in implementing the AA features ..
I can still get messages on the Acura's AA screen including WA messages ,, but there is no Messaging apps in the Acura AA screen .
In AA implementations , there is 2 screens ,, one in the car and one in your phone . Of course we want all AA apps appearing on the car screen ... But right now ,, it seems that its only a subset of AA apps can show on the car screen

I have never liked Waze, and liked it even less in Android Auto (yes it works on other Honda vehicles with AA compatible head units). That said, I am surprised that it is not working on RDX after the latest OTA update. After all one selling point of AA/CarPlay is that it leaves app compatibility to the phone.
Anyone call Acura and inquire about the waze situation? Maybe getting some clarification would help. Acura only puts out updates once a quarter or two so it might be awhile if we don't complain.

Yeah, you have the choice in AA to use either Waze or Google Maps. I always use Google Maps because it includes traffic data from Waze (as well as other sources) without all the nonsensical clutter from the "Wazers". I doubt Waze will go away. I'm sure there are a lot of people who like the app and its interface. I hate it. But Google wants people to use it so they can mine the data.
I have no idea how any of this relates to the RDX infotainment screen because I can't get updates.

Makes sense. Hopefully, you'll get the update next week at the dealer.
I use Waze when I know the way, but there are many alternatives. I think Waze gives great traffic info.
A few months ago, we were meeting a bunch of people at a restaurant near Seaford, on the South shore. Coming from Westchester, there are only about a million different ways to get there, depending on traffic. Amazingly enough, we were stuck in traffic shortly after hitting Nassau on the LIE when my wife needed a bathroom, like right now. Fortunately, Starbucks ads were running, and lo and behold, there was one right off the next exit.

I will try this overall the infotainment system has been a big disappointment to me. I knew it was not going to be as good as my current Ford Sync 2, but I did think it would be better than my 2006 MDX!
I just noticed that the next turn arrows do not appear on the HUD when using Waze. The HUD does display next turn info when using Google maps.
I also found I can put my destination into both apps, and they will both provide voice guidance, no matter which one is currently on the screen.
I am going to try setting up Waze to only speak out "alerts", and not upcoming turns, and then run it in the background, while Google maps runs on the screen. That way I can get the benefits of both apps.
Although the dev mode does enable Waze on my RDX screen, it is wonky. Several times it just crashed, and lost connection to the phone. Unplug, replug and start over.
Two different cables also, one an Anker.
Also, for a lot of my trip (though not all) it seems that Waze can't figure out what direction I am driving. It shows the road at bottom, and route is left or right, not up as expected. Waze on phone for same route and settings performs correctly. You can't get any useful info from this.
See below:
It also flips back and forth from this view (above) to another (below, about every 8-10 seconds). This view is different.. no arrow for car, a bit wider, no speed.... I have no idea why it bounces back and forth. Waze on phone does not do this.
After about 15 minutes with the useless view with the road horizontal at bottom, it switched to a normal (direction up) view, then back, then back again... all the while flipping back and forth between the standard arrow for car and the dot for car view).
So maybe there was a reason Waze has not been implemented without dev mode yet? too buggy?
Just a heads up. This version 4.56.0.2 of Waze sucks, not the RDX implementation. I have Android Auto in my Vette and the latest release of Waze causes it to not lock on to the satellites, or it loses the lock constantly during the drive. The work around, open Google maps first, set a destination, then go to Waze. It works then, at least for my 45 min commute.
How are you switching from google maps to waze? I don’t see any way to do that. What am I missing?
While Android auto is active on your car screen, swipe up to the upper left-hand corner... there's a circle icon up there.. when you select that it brings up a menu to the right and you can scroll down and find a Waze icon.
this is assuming you followed the instructions posted elsewhere here by entering developers mode in the enabling it
Thanks for the help. I will try that later today. I do like Waze. I am having trouble getting the new map updates as the website can't find my vin # in the database. Such a pain. looks like Acura could do better.

Got Waze working today! Seems to have the full features too. I thought I had made all the setup in developer mode, but went back and found a place I failed to adjust on my phone. There is a spot near the top on my S6 settings that says to operate In the developer mode. I checked it, and low and behold Waze appeared on top of my Android Auto menu. I did have to go back into my regular Waze app settings on my phone because it was showing kilometers in stead of miles. .Got warnings of objects in the road ahead. I saw one police cap, but was gone by the time I got to where it was suppose to be. Good luck, I’ve been trying to get this to work since Android Auto first arrived.
And, prior to today (when I checked again) it was working poorly (stuck on North up, not refreshing location quickly enough, etc). But I tested it again today and it is finally working well.
My AA says v 4.9.59434 now, so it, and maybe Waze, have been updated since the first trial. It still requires Dev mode. I wonder if that's cause the RDX touchpad doesn't work in the direct way it does for the rest of the inputs... more like a mouse or standard trackpad. And that's not great since there's no cursor to see where you are. You have to move it around to see if something gets highlighted, and that isn't the best way to do this while driving. So maybe they are waiting on the interface to be updated before a general (non dev mode) release? Just a guess...
Just not fair how apple play can use Waze app on acura rdx but can't access it on andriod auto.
Hi, finally got Waze working on my 2019 RDX. Go into your phone settings and make sure you are running in developer mode. That how I finally got mine working. I have an old Samsung S6 phone.
Anyone having an issue opening waze on phone while android auto is using waze? I'm using a Samsung Galaxy s8 plus. And I've set up the developer setting. I have the 2020 Acura rdx.
