tinted glass

We just bought a 2022 RDX Advance (30 K miles). We had been driving an old Lexus RX350. We realized driving out of the dealership that the RDX has no tinting on the side windows, while the RX350 did - never realized how much of a difference that makes in the summer time. Has anyone had experience tinting their windows to reduce solar radiation? Any hints or traps I should be aware of? thanks

Pretty sure the rear windows have "privacy glass" but isn't as dark as what is considered to be tinted. I'm sure you can find a reputable shop in your area or ask for a recommendation in the Regions section of Acurazine. https://acurazine.com/forums/regions-435/

I just tinted my RDX to help out the anemic AC. 5% xprel Xr plus in the sides, back and pano sunroof. 20% in the front. 70% on the windshield.

tinted windows

Hi,
I have a 2025 Advance. I just had my 2 front windows done with 35% tint, plus.a 6 inch strip at top of windshield.
I have black interior and it made a big difference with the heat after being parked in the sun all day.
I live in
Massachusetts and used Tint King in Billerica. They did a great job. $325 for everything.

If you are in a state subject to state inspection make sure you adhere to the state tinting requirements. There will likely be separate tint levels allowed for the front side windows vs. rear side windows, another tint level for the rear window, and then something different for the windshield, and that may only be for the top 5 or 6 inches.

Thats what I through, till I had Acura check the system while getting service - asked many times before, but they said “that’s the way it works” with checking anything. Turns out, mine was overfilled by the factory, so they educated the system, did a leak test and then refilled with the correct amount. It’s much colder than before, but will never be Lexus or Infiniti meat locker temps.

This is what I did/do to get the most out of the system in the summer heat:
  1. High end ceramic tint on drivers/pass doors, plus LLUMAR Air Ceramic 80% on the entire windshield.
  2. I made a custom heat shield out of a windshield sun deflector for the pano moon roof glass.
  3. Change the air cabin filter once a year.
  4. Rinse out the ac condenser in front of the radiator with low pressure water through the grill once a month in the summers.
  5. When in super hot temps of 100+, I use manual ac, turn the temp down to low on both sides and turn the fan up till it cools down and then go back to auto.

How do you go about finding a good tint shop? I would like to get the front sides tinted with a clear tint for heat reduction.

Google Auto tint shops in your area, read the reviews and call for a quote. Only get a quality ceramic mfg tint, as heat reduction is great, but so is optical clarity when looking through it. LLumar, Suntek, 3M, Xpel and Kavaca are some of the best.
