Sun glare/ reflections off top of dash

Anybody else find this irritating? I have been putting DashMats on all my vehicles over the years, some are worse than others for glare, but in all cases the driving experience is way better once you put a dark NON reflecting black cover up there. I kind of expected a 2022 car to be better for glare, we did not notice any on our test drives in overcast weather. I ordered a new DashMat and will post some pics when it arrives in a couple of weeks, they are made to order.

If you want to see how this would work on your car, you can find a scrap of black felt and put it in line with your view, and you will see the reflections magically go away. The scrap fabric looks like hell, the DashMat looks OK up close, and fine from a slight distance. Any comments?

Its ridiculous, people put it on old cars to cover melting (Famous in Lexus) and damaged dashboards. Stop using dash shine products, and it will not be glossy.

I see you are having a very bad day, I hope you feel better soon. My cars don’t have nasty dashes and my RDX is brand new, though I guess I could sandpaper it to make it dull. Constructive comments to this thread are always welcome.

I have owned A LOT of cars and live where the sun is out ~360 days a year, and have never felt the need for a dash cover. I always thought they could cover up a speaker or HUD projection area. Could just be me.

Edit: I DO wear sunglasses 100% of daytime hours while behind the wheel.

Just had all the windows tinted in my new RDX even the windshield @ 70% Xpel XR plus, back windows @ 70%, driver & passenger 30%. The windshield tint negates needing a dash mat or sun shield.

my comment is constructive, unless dashboard is damaged, the dash cover looks ridiculous.

Eliot Scheiner will personally flog you for covering up his center speaker with a blanket. Also looks ridiculous.

May dad has a dash cover on his car; thinks it looks cool. He's 93.

Yeah, the 3G models have quite a few nagging reflection issues, starting with the dash around the instrument cluster. There's the chrome on the steering wheel and console. When the sun is at just the right angle off to the left, it reflects right back into your eyes. Then there are the bumps on the hood, which also reflect the sun at certain times. And finally, the eustuceon around the right rear "D" window lights up a good part of the day, which makes it look like there's a car over there a lot of the time. Having said all that, I'm not gonna put one of those mats on my dash.
