Sound when 2019 RDX sits idling
This has happened a handful of times when the car sits in idle mode for 5 to 1o minutes a light horn / siren sound can be heard coming from inside the cabin. Just wondering if this issue has happed to anyone else.
- April 28- sat in Dallas, TX traffic in drive mode while foot on the brakes, car made light horn / siren sound. Sound came from front passenger side
- April 29- parked the car then I could hear the light horn / siren noise as we walked away.
- May 17 (2PM)- sat in driveway while in in drive mode and my foot on the brake for about 5 minutes, car made light horn / siren sound can be heard inside car. Auto idle off. Sound came from front passenger side.
- May 17 (6PM)- the car was idling in park mode with car on for 10 minutes, light horn / siren sound can be heard from inside the car. Auto idle off. Sound came from front passenger side.

High-pitched sound?
Is this sound you are referring to a very high-pitched sound? I get it a lot, but it always seems to happen after I shut the car off, but sometimes not. I wish I could figure out why it happens.

This has happened to me a few times, actually I'm able to manually reproduce the issue when I want. Waiting for first service to report to the dealer.
To reproduce the issue do the following, turn off the car, take your seat belt off, open and close the driver door (radio will turn off), stay for a few seconds inside the car and you will start hearing the annoying sound gradually kicking in increasing volume.. it last for a few seconds up to a minute and then is gone. It sounds to me like feedback type of noise coming from the drivers side towards the windshield, not sure if there is a speaker on the dashboard driver side. it's annoying, good thing for me only plays when I'm out of the car walking out.

1. I don’t hear nuthin’
2. That’s normal, they all do that.
Take your pick.

I used to get this. I did a complete reset of the infotainment system and it seems to have fixed the problem.

Dealer figured out the high pitched sound. Faulty A/C expansion valve. Another owner came in today (June 14) heard the same loud pitched noise. Service rep had the customer listen to my recording of it. Diagnosed same noise.
Of course the have to order the part.

What a major coincidence, I was at the Acura Dealership when got notification of your post, I was doing first time service and also the noise problem, they diagnosed the same, "Valve Expansion" problem on my RDX as the culprit for the pitch noise, also, they didn't have the part which is in back order and will arrive in 2 approximately weeks, I asked for the part number:
(80220-TJB-A41)
https://www.acurapartswarehouse.com/...0-tjb-a41.html
Apparently this faulty valve is a known issue with this car, not easy to reach and replace this part, not and easy task, lots of disassembly required....

Okay, I gotta ask. Why would you sit with the car in gear and your foot on the brake that long? I put the car in park when I'm on the drive thru line at Wendy's.

Dealer called today, part have arrived, I'm going to schedule an appointment for next week after the 4th of July long weekend... has anyone here already had the dealership replaced this part on the RDX yet?

Recently, after starting the car in the morning and driving down our street to a stop sign, then moving forward the car makes a sound but it only lasts a second or two. Kind of a beep I'd say. It only happened a couple times so it's unlikely I be able to catch it and record it unless it starts to last longer. Sounds like it comes through the sound system but can't be sure. This thread will be helpful if it becomes necessary to take it to the dealer.

Update: dropped my RDX yesterday morning at the dealership to replace the AC Expansion Valve, got another RDX Base + Tech as a loaner, my car was repaired and ready to pick up late afternoon but went to pick up this morning, so far the issue seems to be fixed after the valve replacement but I think is too early to tell, will keep an eye on it and let you guys know if the issue comes back or not.

Update: Sound when 2019 RDX sits idling
Got the car back yesterday with the new A/C expansion valve. So far no high pitched sound when the car is stopped at a red light / traffic or when turning the car off.

Every dealership is different, but in my case, as soon as I explained the problem they already new about the AC Expansion Valve, the video will definitely help in case they can't replicate the problem, you can also show them the issue from the videos and audios posted here on this thread. Since they replaced the part we have not experienced the pitch noise ever again, it seems it got fixed.

whistle/expansion valve TSB
Had my car in for a whistling noise.
Took the car in yesterday. Tracked down to the expansion valve TSB 19-014.
Got a call this morning saying that Acura is no longer authorizing that fix because it may not fix the problem in all cases. He said they expect a new repair for the problem but cannot give me an ETA. So until then I must put up with the whistling noise.
What kind of service is this from Acura, forcing customers to drive around with their defects? I'm bummed. If there was an ETA at least, it would be somewhat comforting. Now I have no idea how long I get to drive around like this.

I had the same issue.
The expansion valve was on back order, they call me 2 weeks later that the part was ready to be replaced, after they replaced the part the issue went away. See link above for more details on my experience. The TSB doesn't mention anything about a "new fix", I hope your dealership service department is not making this up.

NO REPAIR PERFORMED AT THIS TIME-ACURA HAS SUSPENDED REPAIRS PER BULLETIN 19-014. WILL CONTACT CLIENT UPON REPAIR BEING RELEASED.
I have also contact Acura Client Relations and have asked them why Acura has suspended service when an alternative is not available. They said they'll look into it and get back in a day or two.

Doesn't sound like it. Here's what is in the service write up:

They must be really busy at Acura Client Relations, because I got a call only today, more than a week after our first phone tag. No new information. As a valued customer, I must continue to experience the whistle at engine start and stop. There will be a fix at some point, but nobody knows when--could be days, weeks, months, ...

Weird Noise after shut off
Anyone have this problem. Started with me about a month ago that I started to noticed. I put car in park turn engine off. I open door, close and then hear a loud noise. Sounds like a high pitch fog horn. Doesnt happen all the time, but maybe once or twice a week I hear it. I just happen to find out cause I happen to have left a crack in the window, another time as I was closing the trunk I heard it. I try to reproduce but no lucky. It comes and goes. I want to being in to service, but like usual. They'll say if we can reproduce or see the problem we cant troubleshoot

Any update? Did the valve replacement fix it?
