RDX - Kuwait - Infotainment issues
Hi,
This is my first post. I am a new proud owner of Acura RDX - Tech package.
Some of you may not know but Kuwait is one of Acura's niche markets. I was very hesitant to buy the RDX but after the good reviews and reading on this forum, I thought of picking it up.
I love the car and its an eye-catcher.
Now to the problem. Many have raised their complaints about the infotainment system but mine is quite peculiar. The software version that is installed on my car is D.1.0.6, to some, this is ages old. There have been so many updates and so many enhancements but I am unable to get these updates. The is no OTA update for this region. Checked with the dealer and they said the same. I am unable to use Carplay because it is disabled. and many more issues.
I tried to update via USB, but I get a message back saying that there are no updates for my VIN. Is there any other way to update my software and get this working? I am pretty upset that the OTAs are region-specific and they have completely ignored Kuwait as one of its markets.

Have you tried connecting the car to wifi through US VPN? I think the server mainly checks the VIN number, but no harm trying to see if origin of request is also a factor..

Its possible that his VIN number is not allowed to be upgraded for whatever reasons. Might need to try calling acura and asking them to enable your VIN for updates. They might refuse to do so.

Also check if carplay and OTA are disabled in the system by going into their respective switches in three-finger menu>Detail information & setting>Functional setup.

As a tech we can do it without entering a VIN. I may be able to get the update package for you...the update packages are very specific.
Give me the year, and trim. FWD or AWD? I'll see what I can do!

Anyone else trying this, ONLY install this if your vehicle is a 2019 RDX Tech Package. The software packages are year and trim specific.
I've zipped the update package and instructions. Read the very top of the PDF first so you know what the USB drive requirements are. Then start at 'Step 5: Apply System Update to vehicle', it's a blue heading, not the first number 5 you see in the PDF.
You can download the files here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/wb4k8h7d36...XTECH.zip?dl=0

Im sorry for the late reply. I just got my car back from my second regular service at the dealer. I pointed out my issues with the infotainment system and to my surprise, they fixed it and have updated it to ver 1.2.1. Which I am very happy with. The system now feels faster and doesn't crash. It also has Andrioud Auto which I dint have earlier. So glad with my experience.
Thank you to all who have helped.

I know this is a very old post but I kept searching for a solution and I only found this.
I live in Kuwait and I own RDX A-spec SH-AWD 2019
I own an Android phone and in my car's screen, I found Apple Carplay only.
I can see Android Auto in the Notification menu but not as an app.
I didn't get a clear information from the service advisor at the dealership about Android Auto ( 2 years ago)
I've tried to register my car at https://mygarage.honda.com/s/find-acura
but every time I enter the VIN, it says not found.
Is there anyway to install the Android auto on my car? Like, via USB or something?
Thank you.

The latest software version I have is D.1.0.7
I'll ask them again but I'm sure they won't be able to help me but they'll tell me to buy a newer model of their cars.

Glad your issue is resolved.
It's so nice to see everyone helping other members. This is how it should be...also glad to see the forum has changed and some of the "True enthusiasts" left the forum and we don't see them here.

Or try usb.acura.com

And about usb.acura.com, I followed the instruction and didn't get any update except "No available update for your vehicle yet" Or something like that.

No idea if there are regional software differences that would cause a problem in Kuwait, so it is a risky alternative, but doesn't sound like much else is working.
Edit: I just went to the usb.acura.com website and found that they require an actual keyfile created from your specific car, so disregard above as VIN searching wouldn't solve it.

I got to find someone with actual keyfile from an owner in the U.S to share but I doubt that I will find, lol.
Thanks again for the help.
