Rattling Resolved by Service
Rattling Resolved by Service
^That title, is one I've not seen in this forum. Therefore - as a person who dropped off his RDX last Friday to Acura Service for the 4th time (6 total when adding another dealer), has anyone here actually got the rattling around the HUD and the passenger side dash/pillar resolved at an Acura service center?
I saw the video of the dude stuffing the A/C padding in between the front pillars - that didn't resolve the rattling at all for me.
It did kind of helped when stuffing it around the edges of the HUD - but I don't believe it's a lot to ask that a 2021 vehicle not need a solution typical for rattling on a 12+ year old car.

I'm supposed to have the MOST bus harness replaced to fix the crackling and and dropouts in the audio. At which time, they will gut much of the interior, including the dash, and hopefully fix the rattle near the HUD. I only hope they don't introduce 5 more rattles.
This is the reason for me to hold out bringing my RDX to the dealer for MOST fix. They fixed one issue and two more surfaces. Once the techs gone through and torn down the dash it’s ever the same. I had my fair share of sloppy Acura dealer tech broken clips or scratches the interior. I only found out when I took it out myself or observed something out of place. Most people will not notice but I am meticulous.

While at Honda, I did have several Service Advisors comment on how sharp my vehicle was, along with several questions regarding it's performance, handling, and so on. It started to make me wonder if they've ever seen an ASPEC RDX. I can't imagine that they don't work on Acura's daily, but who knows, I guess.
For those of you that have had work done on the inside of your RDX, what types of damage have you encountered? Is it just mostly scratches and broken clips?
On the passenger side, it's likely coming from under the passenger side footwell. There's a panel under the glovebox you can just pull down and it reveals a rectangular thing covered by a plastic/rubber cover. Knocking on it, I hear a nasty metallic rattle. I'm suspecting that that's the culprit.
Also have a rattle in the B-pillar right by my left ear that went from intermittent to basically consistent at this point. This along with other rattles I've fixed on my own.
Acura build quality for you. Never again ...

I had my USB port replaced because Android Auto kept disconnecting if the cable was moved at all. They had to take apart the whole dash to replace it. When I got it back, it had a new rattle. A couple weeks later, the infotainment started acting up. So I brought it back, they did the infotainment recall, and looked into the rattle. They found a loose screw. Rattle gone.
A new day, a new rattle. Now it seems like the whole dash rattles. LoL. I dunno anymore. I've never been more disappointed with a car purchase. If it were mine and not the wife's, it would have been long gone.
Soo ... after lots of trips to an Acura service center around my way - the rattles of concern might actually be resolved.
The issue around the HUD - seems to be related to the need for padding between the trim and the plastic glass. I had placed an excessive amount air-conditioner padding around the edges to test several months ago. Did a 600 RT drive, where I only heard "something" on hard bumps - which I was/am ok with. Went to my dealer with that solution, and they did something that seems to have resolved it. That was in November 2021.
I was also getting rattling sounds around both A pillars. Turns out the driver side rattling was a result of the dashcam wires not being well mounted - but the passenger side was a result of the speaker. Specifically, it appears the speaker is being held in place by glue that had likely warn down from sitting in the sun. I had taken the A pillars off (following the instructions here: https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-rdx-.../#post16405303), and drove it for a week with them both off. Zero rattling. Went to Acura last week with the A-pillar on hand, shook it so that they hear and feel the rattling. That was fixed.
There was also a new sound from the undercarriage that started to happen last fall. Around December 2021 it was happening all the time, making it easy to replicate when at Acura. Turns out it was a bushing issue that required replacing the lower control arms.
Two days in with all these addressed - and while not Lexus or Genesis quiet, it's at the level I recall it being when I first picked up the car new. It might be a silly thing to some, but for me, it's revigorated my appreciation for the car again. Hope this information helps someone else. If the rattling returns, I'll be sure to follow up with an update.

Update on my initial Repair, Back to the Service Center
After a few weeks issues just started adding up from the initial repair plus one new one.
- Dash accent lighting on the passenger side was not working
- Glovebox would not fully open
- Audio system at max volume was very low (Max of 90dB), measured with SPL meter
- something was dropped on the rocker panel which cause a couple small dents
- NEW wind noise around driver side window, confirmed by tech during drive
