I got this quote from local Acura dealership for A-Spec SH-AWD

Selling price: $47195
Discount: $3200
Rebate: $1500
Taxes, tags, doc fee etc: $3300.54

OTD: $45795.54

Is it a good price?
I'm on the same boat as you...I really like the appearance package of the A-Spec.

I think that the extra $$ is worth it on the Advance. But...I'll probably stick to the A-Spec. Those wheels on the Advance trim are a deal breaker for me.

I don't care for the Advance wheels either, but the numerous added features were more important to me.

Yes had to finance to get discount. The funny thing is I showed them a quote from a previous dealer that had a $1,500 loyalty discount already in it. When they saw that quote I don't think they knew it already had the loyalty so they gave it to me again. I got APR 4.3% / 60 month. I plan to pay it off in cash next month though (I got money from my previous Acura being totaled) so I wasn't that concerned with the APR.

Please explain to me why anyone wants to pay 35-40k cash from their saving account which can be earning money 1.5-2% per year in CDs and not take 0.9% financing and pay $1500 extra.
$1500 plus 0.9% over 5 years is like $2300 on 35k loan.
your saving account can earn the same or more.

Paid cash for mine. I dislike monthly payments. Asisn parents taught me if you dont have the cash you cant afford it.

Only debt I have is my mortgage.

And I sleep better with extra money in the bank that can be used to pay off loan at any time or to cover unexpected expenses.
If cost to borrow is same or less than interest I get in the bank, this makes it no brainer

$42,495 before taxes is a good price, at least I think it is. Some states have better taxes than others so that's a pretty good baseline.

$46,406.25 Total "out-the-door" cost.

The above price includes $1,500 rebate for financing through Acura. I didn't qualify for any other loyalty or conquest discounts.

Then, in a separate online purchase:
$1,345.00 AcuraCare 72 Month / 120,000 mile extended warranty (Plan D62).
$0,855.00 Acura 48 month / 60,000 mile maintenance plan (Plan M46).

$2,200.00 Total for both plans.

I used the process detailed by Mr. James Bragg here:

It was $50 very well spent.

I'm very happy with my new RDX.
Who/where did you go with your AcuraCare and Maintenance Plan?

2020 Tech SH-AWD (with remote starter): $40,800 negotiated price before taxes.

Dealer agreed to the negotiated price. Then on the paperwork, listed the price $41500. When asked about it, they pointed out the subtracted $1000 loyalty discount which makes the price came down to the negotiated price. Shady practice? Maybe not? It's still the negotiated price I have agreed to pay. But that surprised $1000 loyalty discount off the negotiated price sure would have made the customer feel better with the dealership $40,800 is still a reasonable deal, imo.

2020 RDX SH-AWD - Tech Package (Modern Steel / Ebony)

MSRP: $44,658
Adjusted Price: $40,000
0.9% Financing. Math made more sense than $1500 lower price for ~4% rate or cash purchase.

Purchase date was 10/25/19
I emailed all dealers in OR and a few in Western WA asking for OTT numbers for a 2020 Platinum White/Ebony, Tech package. I only spoke with them via email and here's what I ended up with. Best deal came from the Salem, OR location (I got to nearly identical OTT numbers from Acura of Bellevue but I live in OR, so Salem was easier).
Sale Price $42,000
License/Registration $248.50
Title Fee $93.00
Title & Reg processing Fee $75.00
Sales Tax $210.00
Total out the Door: $42,626.50

This included all season floor mats, cargo tray, wheel locks, splash guards and also took advantage of the Acura financing offer of 0.90% for 60 months. Now I refuse to watch RDX commercials because I don't want to hear of any better offers and beat myself up that I didn't get a better deal.

Add:
NJ TAX $2724.06

plus destination fee, so OTD should be slightly under 44k.
also, see if you can get any rebates, if you dont take special financing, you might be able to go lower.

I'm in norcal too. Did you pay all cash or loan? If loan, how much was the loan amount? I'm looking for a 2020 RDX FWD Advanced package and one place offered me $39,950 with $20k down.

Received an offer for $43,250 and I confirmed that it includes destination fee... I'm guessing this is a good offer then.

Assumes
1. Majestic Pearl Black / Ebony interior ($+450)
2. 0.9% financing

Wondering if I should pull the trigger or keep negotiating...

depends if you have time and patience. You can try different dealer just to probe the market.
also, if you want to wait till end of December, you might get another 1k off

TTL is high all across California. It's BS that you can't trade in your car at dealership to have the TTL reduced like other states. The 5k in TTL makes it so you are basically committed to the car. As the depreciation plus additional 10% cost of car, ensure you really want to keep the car a long time till the curve of depreciation is past it's peak.

Had to walk away from a 2020 RDX Advanced last night. They wanted:

MSRP: $48,695
Discounted to $46,426
Doc Fee $85
Tax at $3,604.76
Non tax fees $599.75
OTD $50,717.51
0.9% APR 60 month terms, with a $12,000 down payment

No thanks. Walked away. The dealership now has two of the exact same models on their lot. One of them has been there for a month+

I was so annoyed too that the rebates only go toward your down vs TTL, after I processed the WTF&^%ery living in LA, I decided to go home with it... can't lie I get a little jealous when I see the other post with low TTL.....

I'm surprised they wouldn't budge during Black Friday, are you in So Cal? there are 7 Acura dealers by me, so I pushed, and picked the person that gave me his full attention and I was in out of the dealer without the haggle.... pretty seamless... perhaps if you purchase at the end of December you'll get a better deal

Yup, California. Mission Viejo Acura. I was surprised too that they didn't budge on Black Friday especially. But yea, maybe in December. I just find it funny that they aren't moving these particular Advanced models as they've been on the lot for awhile (I've been watching their inventory closely). They got down to a better number on a second offer ($44,500) but it was at 3.9% APR rather than the 0.9%. I told them I'm confident I'll be approved for the 0.9% and I need the sale price to come down another $1.5K or so...if they could reduce by another $1.5K and given me the 0.9% APR, I would have taken it.

just for your info, when you receive special 0.9% financing from
Acura, dealer can not get a rebate 1.5k. Acura give a little kick back to the dealer when car is financed through Acura
at regular rate (0.9 is excluded).
so you will see dealers getting you better price but without 0.9%.

So it is really hard or impossible to get 0.9% with a reduced price?

you can still get a “good” price, its just a good information to have. The dealer counts on a rebate, so depending if he is getting
it or not, his lowest offer will factor it in (or not)

From my calculations (if you borrow 35k or more) its better to keep your money in a CD earning 1% and pay little
more to get 0.9%. If you get 4%, 3% extra over 5yrs is probably more than $1500, u can calculate

After Christmas, send out a blast to every dealer nearby. The end of quarter, end of year goals are important. If a dealer is one ot two away, he will kill to get the sale. Mif he met goals, he won’t.
