Disabling CarPlay

Is there a way to disable CarPlay so that even though my phone is plugged in to the center console USB port (want to do that for charging), the system still behaves as if the phone is only connected via Bluetooth?

You can turn CarPlay off in the settings under connections or manage connections.

The only issue with having the iPhone forget the car is when you plug it back in the car will ask you if you want to enable CarPlay. You should also be able to disable CarPlay from that screen when it pops up. You can plug your phone into the USB in the center space in front of the cup holder. That USB is power only and just turn on Bluetooth and connect that way.

Ok a slight correction. I just came from my car and you can disable CarPlay under the connections menu. CarPlay and Bluetooth can’t be active at the same time. You have to use one or the other. So disable CarPlay and enable Bluetooth and you should be good to go for using the cup holder USB for power only and connect to the car using Bluetooth.

Thanks. I did it and it worked great.

I didn't do this yet. Is it necessary?

No need to that if the previous solution is waiting.
