Exclamation Any way to increase Carplay wireless distance/penetration?

One of my most wanted features was wireless Carplay, and overall it functions really well. One area where it doesn't do well is if my phone is in my pocket. If I have on very thin nylon type sweatpants I *might* get my phone to connect, but then it goes in and out. If I have on jeans then it won't connect. This is on an iPhone 13 pro max and a 2022 RDX. Bums me out as on short trips I really wanted to not have to bother taking my phone out of my pocket. I'm assuming Carplay uses wifi and not bluetooth? Anyone know of a way to improve the distance/penetration of the signal?

Its a bluetooth connection. They are always spotty when going through barriers.

I have the same set up - 13 Pro Max and a 2022 RDX.

I can leave my phone in my gym bag that's in the trunk and CarPlay works well.

Hmm, I have a bluetooth radar detector (Valentine V2) that connects perfectly to my iPhone even if in my jeans pocket, and the radar is mounted all the way in the rear of the car on the headliner. I'm surprised the head unit (or wherever the bluetooth antenna is) can't reach if I'm in the driver's seat.

I wonder if I'm blocking it with my body just sitting with it in my pocket. Can you try to put it into a thick pocket like jeans material and see if it still connects without going in and out? Maybe my car has an issue.

I have an iPhone 12 and have never had an issue connecting with the phone in my pocket.

No issues even through thick pants... Maybe try with another phone to see if the issue persists?

How’s the sound quality on wireless CarPlay? Anyone done an actual comparison to wired?

I know wired CarPlay is better than Bluetooth.

It is not a bluetooth connection, its actually WiFi. When you first connect your phone to the car its bluetooth, CarPlay runs over WiFi and that connection initiates when you make your first connection.

Range should not be an issue, its either your phone or an issue with the infotainment system.

Thank you for correcting that patently false statement they pulled out of thin air.
