Any news about our Map Update?
Given the experience of those of us who were "lucky" enough to install the previous map updates, I'm guessing it won't happen until after the next system software update. And that might not happen until Android Auto is ready to go live.
I suspect they are rethinking how they are going to distribute these map updates, amongst other issues.

Downloading the update software and the update itself and then uploading via USB wasn’t the most convenient procedure but, it was preferable to the current scheme which is no update at all.

I did the October update and now it pops up every time saying "Map Out Of Date" when trying to use the NAV with instructions on how to update. I contacted HERE and they basically told me no update existed... We all know better and sent them the information from my screen. They were perplexed to say the least and said no update would be coming until October 2019

Not that I have been tricked often due to an out of date map, it defies best business practices that there is not a communicated plan provided to customers on the particulars of how updates are to be provided for the 3G RDX. Fee vs. free, target frequency, methodology, etc. I have heard discussions (but maybe just rumors?) that the updates are free annually for five years (starting when?), and come directly from Acura. But who knows that is not an insider to the company? And it appears that they don't know giving speculation that nothing has even been defined.

I saved a copy of that press release in case it were to ever 'disappear'.
Maybe my remaining pertinent question I posed is "Starting when?".
I think that means that the first update is about 4 years away.
I kind of expect salespeople to blatantly lie or make promises that they have no intention of keeping but it's odd for a manufacturer to do it so brazenly. If it was an honest mistake then maybe proactively apologizing and offering some type of compensation would be the appropriate response. I mean, if Acura thinks their old map updates were worth selling for $100 or whatever they were charging, that's only fair they they refund people that purchased the vehicle for the years of updates that they failed to produce.

October 2019 is sooner than the 31st of never. But yeah, I'm pretty tired of that "Map Out Of Date" message. Kinda adding insult to injury.

IMHO this whole issue likely pertains to a poorly defined "collaboration" between Acura and HERE on this software and associated map data. Somebody didn't do their due diligence.
( In other words, they're just making it up as they go ).

Japanese manufacturers had the reputation of only adding stuff once the other manufactures had tested it and found it to work, but recently, it seems that Acura has jumped in with both feet to try out bleeding edge technolog
iDrive nearly killed BMW and the original cars with iDrive were never upgraded.
Acura needs to go back to building bulletproof cars with time tested technology.
I'm thinking of a Land Cruiser now - ancient tech but nothing ever breaks.

Speaking of map updates, I also explained to HERE concerning the issue of "Towards" something... I told them that people expect Exit numbers or details on where to turn and not to be told "Towards" a destination. They said that would not be corrected in any future updates...
Ummm... My 10 Year Old Garmin shows exit information..

Reminds me of the incompetent worker that will focus on administrative rules instead of actually getting the job done since they can't. "Did you to see the memo on the TPS reports?" haha

Their road surfaces are generally better, though.
It seems to be the European way. Here in the states, you normally get a route # and direction in addition to towns or cities. In Europe, you don’t. You get which town is in each direction. That is why I must have a GPS when driving over there.

Fair question. I assumed from the moment you purchased the vehicle but maybe it's from when the RDX was released (relative to the model year).
I could've sworn I read something about receiving quarterly updates.

https://www.acura.com/news-and-press...90-en#exterior The info is way down the release under Acura Navigation System with Voice Recognition features summary:
"The RDX's all-new navigation system, developed in cooperation with HERE, offers many improvements, including enhanced graphics, customized vehicle icons, 3D buildings and terrain, turn-by-turn directions displayed in the instrument cluster and more. The system includes free quarterly map database updates for five years. The system includes the HD Digital Traffic feature, which alerts the driver to current traffic conditions and can display alternate routes around gridlock. It features expanded coverage including many surface streets within the U.S., allowing the driver to choose faster, less congested routes. HD Digital Traffic is subscription-free."

I would call the bland map display anything but Enhanced Graphics...and not that this important at all, but where is my customized vehicle icon?
The VW GTI hasn't had a map update since 2016. VW says "HERE has them" and HERE says "go to the dealer"
