Animated drive mode screens

I have a 2019 and the drive mode screens have always been static, but today I noticed they are animated. Is this a 1.5.1 thing or were they updated earlier?

It’s a 1.5.1 update from a few weeks ago.

It is kind of silly in my opinion. It only shows for a few seconds anyway. They could have left them the way they were, and spent the time/energy on updating/adding a few other things that owners here have mentioned.

JB I would have to agree! It does nothing and only lasts a few seconds. They should have focused solely on performance and stabilization improvements and maybe add some dang color to their boring infotainment screen menus and a few more features a screen showing the weather in your location.

I suspect the designers of the interface feel the high color scheme you see on most other infotainment systems is a bit too "cartoon-ish" for an upscale, luxury vehicle. I don't mind the subdued color scheme for the GUI, but I would prefer a more traditional, high contrast scheme for the map display. It would be easier to read at a glance.

Your probably right but take the CarPlay main screen for instance. You can choose different colors schemes to suit your taste and. None of them are overly cartoonish. They don’t need to go bold but just take advantage of that screen and add some life to it. For me it’s too toned down.

I'd just like to add, I like the animated screens. Mostly gratuitous and and of no practical value but Ike them.

That is all.

If they're gonna animate them, then they should go all out and truly animate. For Comfort Mode, use a big fluffy blanket that wraps around the RDX. For Sport Mode, have the RDX slicing the twistys on a mountain. For Sport + - use the Roadrunner speeding down the desert road. (watch out for ACME anvils and black holes in the road) For Snow Mode, the RDX could be slushing through snow without a care in the world.

You can tell I grew up with Saturday morning Warner Bros cartoons...
