Post 2022 RDX Maintenance Package

Hi All,

need to the forum, traded my 18TLX for a 22’ RDX Aspec Advance in black. I thought I would regret trading in a Sedan for an SUV. The RDX had been great, drives and handles like the TLX, if not better.
When I purchased the RDX, the finance manager told me that the car comes with maintenances package included for 4 years/60k miles. I was told it was offered through Acura and would receive information in the mail. It’s been a month an a half, and I have not received anything yet. Has anyone been told they have the maintenance included on the 2022 RDX? And if so, have you received anything in the mail from Acura ? Thank you

Never heard of that, unless its a "Dealer" bonus. That would fall under "Acura Care", which is an additional cost. Here is the basic Acura Warranty: The New Vehicle Limited Warranty begins when the vehicle is first put into use and lasts for 4 years or 50,000 miles, whichever comes first. Under this warranty, known as bumper-to-bumper coverage, Acura will repair or replace almost any part at no charge.

Sounds like they sold you Acura care or Acura maintenance package on top the the regular warranty. Mail is slow so you may need to be quite patient.

The finance guy at my Acura dealer tried to bag me with some sort of protection package that covered things like door dings and such. I wasn't cheap and of course I declined. Those things are cash cows for the dealership and a financial reward for the finance guy if he sells it

If you are leasing, I would go with this deal. I always get damage insurance which usually costs up to $10 a month on your lease. Your car is always going to get hit with rocks, get scratches or dings from other vehicles. When you turn in your lease they will look over your car's exterior with a tooth comb looking for damage.

If you are purchasing the vehicle, I don't see the sense in a protection package.

Thank you ask for the reply. I’m from Massachusetts, he did mention something about a new law in MA in regards to the right to fix your car at any mechanic and they are including for that reason.. I know I definitely didn’t purchase anything extra from the finance guy and it is not av dealership perk.. nonetheless just thought I’d put it out there to see if someone has come across this.. Happy New Year y’all

It’s rare for scratches and dings that are smaller than a coin to cause any issues when you trade in a lease. Regardless, dings, chips, and small scratches can be repaired for very cheap.

I purchased my 22 RDX Advance in MA (Prime/IRA Acura) and heard the same thing. Haven't received anything either. The finance guy was trying to upsell me on an ext warranty and then he realized I was in MA and it didn't apply because of some new Acura policy or something. So he stopped the hard sell.

Those finance guys are the worst part about buying a new car. Their barrage of high-profit crap they try to tell you that you absolutely need is a nightmare. (Window Etching, Pain Protection, Extended Warranty, Wheel protection, Fabric protection, etc etc)

The real protection most consumer needs is from the dealers over priced up sells. 😝

Maintenance coverage confirmed

Hi all, just received my maintenance package that covers for 4 years or 60,000 miles.
Oil change, tire rotation, air filter, automatic transmission fluid, transfer case fluid and brake fluid, and differential fluid. It took about 4 months from when I purchased to receive the “contract” so far loving the RDX, best car I’ve ever owned.

Really? Are you sure you didn't get it included in the deal, and the dealer paid for it?

Was just curious as to why the dealer you purchased it from is the lien holder. Either there is none or it should be whoever you financed it through. Not saying you do not have the coverage. It’s just that I cannot believe that Acura actually gave away the Maintenance plan for free.

Especially now when they’re selling every car as soon as it comes off the truck. There’s no need for them to incentivize buying a car by reimbursing the dealer for the maintenance plan

My point exactly....and...I was truly wondering the cost, as I think I have a new RDX on the way...dealer is/was not being honest with me. Can you believe it?

I'm thinking the maintenance contract Rlan23 mentions is through the dealer, and not Acura.

Some dealers around here offer free oil changes for the life of the car. For what costs them, at most, $20, they get to go over your car and upsell you on all kinds of stuff.

True………but……….cost way more than $20 per change.

Admin cost per RO………..…………………$5-8
Fixed cost for 30 minute oil change ………..$20
Labor even for the lowest tech………………$10
Oil/ &filter …………………………………,.…$12-$15
Lost labor or part sales……………………….?

Free service is about building a customer base over the long haul. It’s part of the quick service biz model, some day sell brakes, filters, trans services, tires, timing belts ( V6) sell the next 5 cars etc. aka customer retention

This maintenance package that I received did not come from the dealership that I bought the car from, this cane directly from Acura. It’s just not oil changes, this still cover anything that pops up on the maintenance minder for up to 4 years or 60k miles

So the issue here is we never saw the actual purchase price and fee included when he purchased. Without that information, we cant determine what the dealer added into his purchase. I highly suspect that this warranty is an add on that the dealer slid in on the purchase. We will never know but surely that warranty was paid by the buyer somewhere in his purchase. It is not going to be free I can assure anyone of that.

My curiosity is NOT critiquing the OP, but I am honestly interested in finding out how much a maintenance package like this actually costs, from Acura. Good at any Acura dealer.

I understand u r skeptical about Acura providing Maintenance package and I don’t know what to tell you. My finance guy told me that Acura is including this with the purchase, I know for a fact I didn’t pay for this and I received it in the mail. You can believe it or not, at this point don’t really matter to me, I just wanted to share, have a great day !!

Sorry, you have this wrong! I am NOT skeptical of you at all...I am curious as to the cost as I hope to be buying a 2022 Advance soon. I would like to know what this maintenance package costs. Unfortunately, I don't trust my dealer, and this might derail the purchase all together.

I recently got a quote on Acura Care ext warranty plans and they also forwarded to me quotes on maintenance plans good at any Acura dealer. This was from Hyannis HondaCare online. Not sure if this is what you are asking for.
  • Requested Coverage: Honda/Acura Maintenance Plans

$0 Deductible Options

Plan Code Years* Mileage* Rate
M22 2 24,000 $410.00
M23 2 30,000 $525.00
M33 3 36,000 $590.00
M34 3 45,000 $770.00
M44 4 48,000 $805.00
M46 4 60,000 $920.00

The fact that the OP got this for free still just seems like it doesn't make sense but good for him! Maybe the finance manager screwed up and is now without a job, who knows.

I can guarantee it was not free, included gratis or anything else that approaches the dealer paying for it. This is like any other add-on and the cost is captured somewhere in the financing agreement. That being said, it is worth it because it covers all maintenance minder interval services.

you are wrong and you were hoodwinked. These plans are in no way free. You’ve paid for it somewhere either explicitly or implicitly, it’s in the total amount you financed.

You can’t buy AcuraCare directly from Acura, even though it is a maintenance contract provided by Acura. The contract is paid for / financed through the dealership, then about 4-6 weeks later you receive the contract from Acura. In fact, if you check your paperwork from the dealership carefully you’ll see that there is an application for AcuraCare coverage that states the coverage is subject to approval, and upon approval you’ll receive the contract. Additionally, inside the front flap of the contract your vehicle information is detailed (I.e., in-service date, contract expiry date, contract number, VIN) and there is only one source from where this information is derived, and that is the dealer, which means you signed the document and ultimately paid for it.
