Maintenance, Maintenance, Maintenance
Maintenance, Maintenance, Maintenance
I'm in the process of going through my 06 TL and wanted to ask for you guys opinion for suspension replacements. I plan to as much as possible keep the ride as it is - no modification such as lowering, body mods, etc. I am able to do some maintenance but also have access to a mechanic that can assist with the labor especially if the work that needs to be done include raising the vehicle. Since the 1st owner failed to tell me when he had the timing belt replaced, I'm replacing it using an OEM kit. I also noticed very little leak from under the driver side and thinking this is would be oil seal. Also looking at ball joints and control arms.......and I'll stop there. So what would be a good replacement for suspensions, control arms, and ball joint kit?
Thanks Folks!

Unless there is a problem with the suspension or steering components I would not change them as maintenance. If a damper/shock is soft then perhaps replace them but I only replace suspension components when there are problems. I.E. if the control arm rubber bushings are/have failed then replace the bushings . For ball joints if there is no feelable play then also do not replace them. Same goes for the steering rack. It's not fun or cheap to replace these components so leave them alone with they're fine.
On the TB, definitely get it replaced if the motor is over ~105k miles and do not have any documentation saying it was replaced. Also replaced the water pump at the same time. I also tend to reused the TB tensioners, unless they are leaking damper fluid.
