Unhappy Smoke coming from engine bay!!

Hey guys,

So today, I lent my car to my cousin and he went to go eat with some friends and it's peek hour for this asian area that's packed as with fobs and shit all over the place trying to buy food and whatever else... Anyways, parking is a bitch to find and he was stuck on a really steep car park ramp, massive traffic on top level of the parking and all these cars behind him thus he couldn't move anywhere.. The effing genius didn't press the brakes/pull the hand brake because he's scared he'll roll back too far later so he just kept the car revving at 1-2.5k rpm for I don't know how long.. soon, there was smoking coming out of the engine bay so he got out, opened the hood just to have a cloud of smoke come out. It smelt really burnt and it still does, 2 hours later as well.
I've got it parked outside my house now with the hood open to get rid of the smell.. Any idea what happened? Is my engine wrecked or anything? Damaged the engine most probably?

Thanks guys

EDIT: I've also been breathing in all that smoke/fumes... is that really bad? :S

I say clutch as well. I smoked a clutch in my TT Stealth. Holy cow it was a lot of smoke and smelled like you described. When you go to drive it again pay close attention to the pedal and whether or not it engages completely. You *may* need to replace it. If he had the clutch pedal at half the entire time then I wouldn't be surprised.

Ahhh dammit. Is it expensive to replace? Do you guys reckon there's damage to the engine or anything else? I just started the car again and I can still smell it a bit. Is it safe to drive with it like that?

I'm sure the engine is fine. They can take the abuse. But as for the clutch... You'll just have to drive it to find out. Keep the drive to residential areas first and don't beat on it. And you'll smell that for a little while. It can be costly to fix. I don't know what it is for a Honda/Acura car but I know my Stealth was $1200. I think Hondas are relatively cheap though. Hope it all works out though. Smoked clutch sucks and can leave you stranded anywhere.

Awww mannn... if it's gonna be costly, more delays for my coils Thanks for the help guys. If there's anything else I need to know/be aware of, please let me know! But I drove it a bit before, it seems 'fine'

aw man good luck euro, i think we all learned a lesson here:

your cousin sucks at driving.

kidding, but you should have him pay some, if not all of the replacement cost

You have to talk to him and find out what really happened. When I sold my 5 speed, I've seen people try and do what you've described. They would rev and use the clutch to hold their position. WTF !

You should never lend someone your car like that, especially if they don't know how to properly drive a 5 speed.

Even as I learned 5 speed back in the days, I"ve never burnt the clutch. The biggest mistake is to burn it, and I don't know what it takes to burn it like that, but he must be a damn rook to burn a clutch to that degree.

Driving 5 speed is diff't, you give yourself more room in the front and you don't give a fk if the person in the back of you honks. You can use ebrake, or you can just rev a bit higher as you engage to pull yourself up, but holding your car like that is even more nerve racking if you ask me.

Sorry about it, but like everyone says, go test it and if it feels funny and if the smell re-occurs, try to pin point it.
