Reverse Camera screen not turning on?

I was driving home last week from work and decided to get some take-out food. This requires me to parallel park in front of the restaurant. Having a reverse camera (and side dipping mirror) I thought to myself, "piece of cake!" So, I stuck the car in reverse, and the frigging reverse camera screen does not come on! (it was stuck on the previous Bluetooth Audio screen). I tried shifting it back to park, then to reverse...still no dice. The only fix was to shut off the engine completely, and restart the car, which made me look really stupid on the side of the street

I was not able to duplicate the glitch again, so there is no way to show it the dealer. The only thing that I can think of that could've cause the glitch was that I was listening to Bluetooth Audio at the time. It might have locked up the system, but it might not. Has anyone have this problem with the reverse camera?

yeah, others have had this problem.
I've read about this about half a dozen times now or so.
if you search this forum, I'm sure you will come across it.

its happened to me once so far...like you, it went away after first restart...no biggie...i'm more bothered by the occasional "flickering" my nav screen does every minute or so...don't know if its normal or just XM traffic refreshing or something...still love the car though

I noticed the "flickering" on the screen also occasionally, and I also guessed it was the XM traffic refreshing. Not a big issue, but noticeable.

My Nav Display hasn't viewed the rear camera twice in the 3 months of ownership. Doesn't bother me in the least.

I think I was the first person who documented this problem back in Apr when I first purchased my car i happened to me maybe a hlaf dozen times but I hae never had a problem with it since....I think it just one of those things and will probably work itself out.

Wow, some of you guys are much more forgiving than I! I'd really hate to see a big piece of a $3100+ option not work a few times already in the first few months of ownership. If it is glitch-y already, what's going to happen a few years down the road?

With the more that I read...I dunno, I think that maybe I should re-think the whole Tech purchase thing.

I've had the car for a full day now and the reverse camera didn't come on once already. I couldn't replicate the problem again after numerous tries, though. I have the car going back this week to fix a blown speaker and I'll mention that and have them take a look at that also (although I doubt they'll even really look at it to be honest, especially if it doesn't do it often).

Sounds like a software glitch rather then a mechanical problem.

I had the same problem too in the two months that i have owned the car. The first time it was raining quite hard and the second time round, it wasn't.

Both the times, i had to shut the car down. Get the gears back to Park and then start it back up and have the car in Reverse to display the Camera Popup.

I do agree with iTimmy that this might seem moreso a software Hitch. The physical Connection to the Camera seems to be Ok, but the system has to detect the switch as the reverse gear is switched on.

Yet another Caveat in the "Acura Experience" i have had with the TSX, the others being the pinging/rattle, the rough rpm engine. All these within 1600 miles. (the current mileage)
