Question regarding 2010 TSX rear brake pad thickness
Hi,
I recently had my car at an Acura dealer for the air bag recall, and they did the usual inspection. They said I needed front and rear brakes. The fronts I already knew had to be replaced, and did those on my own. The rears they measured at 5mm. So I want to purchase new pads at Autozone and there brand new pads also measure 5mm. So either Autozone sells crappy pads that are to thin or the Acura dealer is just trying to scam me! Any thoughts? Thanks

You posted this thread in the TL forum. But since I own both cars and know the answer .... the pads that are sold as OE equivalent all have the same thickness. They must conform to to OEM specifications; D1451 for rear 2010 TSX 4 & 6 cyl models.
Dealers lie. I brought my older TL in years ago and they told me my front rotors were warped and pads needed to be replaced. I had just replaced the rotors and pads three weeks before so .....

dealer probably looked at it and made up a number to get you to get new pads soon. Buy some online and do them yourself!

Actually, I discovered something about brake pad thickness that is puzzling. Went to Autozone and measured there Duralast Gold ceramic pads. Front measured 7mm, and rear measured 6mm. Then went to Acura and measured there pads. Front 11mm, and rear 8mm. So I feel as though buying the Acura pads will give me a longer lasting brakes due to the thickness. Any thoughts??
