How to check brake pad thickness?

Is it possible to check the remaining font brake pad life by pulling the wheels off or do you have to disassemble more? What exactly would I be measuring? I have almost 57k miles and was wondering how close I'm getting.

if i remember correctly you have to use a micrometer. just pull the wheels and measure if you have one or take it in.

do you meant eh pads or the rotors? the rotors need a micrometer to find out if it's within it's limit, but with the pads you can pretty much visually inspect them. I fyou have no experience with looking at pads and they are completely bare, you might not notice. When I changed my pads/rotors earlier this year my stock ones were completely gone and I was a noob so I had no idea how they were supposed to look, but when I got the new ones I was curprised at how much was gone.

the pads should be like a metal plate about 1.25 cm thick, with teh actual pad toughing the rotor and the pad should be at least .5cm thick.

Yeah I meant pads, not rotors. I know my rotors are warped to hell and I plan on having them replaced instead of machined at my 60k service since they've been warped for a while. I'm just hoping the pads hold out another 3k miles. How long is everyone getting out of their front pads?
