G-001: 2010 TSX Driver's Side Foglight "Cracked"

And no I'm not speaking as a car salesman. I've been on car forums long before I was ever selling. I'm speaking about common sense. Stuff happens in life. Deal with it.

FWIW, the latest issue of Car & Driver reviewed the TSX and their fog light cracked as well, was not replaced under warranty, and cost $290 total to fix. $165 for the fog light and $125 for labor.
Far cry from $400 for the fog light itself.

What the critics, who think it is "dumb," fail to understand is that this is a potential design flaw. Yes, things do happen but if a cracked fog light is a trend in a number of vehicles, then yes, it should be covered by Acura. That is what the "Problems and Fixes" forum is intended for; so that we can discuss issues with our vehicles and not be criticized for doing so in the process.

I currently have one cracked on my 08. But at no time did I ever notice it and curse Acura for their design and think to myself that they should fix it under warranty. It's just something that happens.

when both the foglights cracked on my 06 tsx I did not expect to have it fixed free. It was the dealer that offered it. I have been buying and servicing my cars at this dealership since 02 (have bought 10 cars from them and have recommended them to numerous friends) I still think it is a design flaw.

The left plastic signal light on my NSX is cracked. I'm going to the dealership for a free replacement and to demand that Acura recall every NSX worldwide.
Or...as a reasonable alternative, introduce a new NSX model for adequate recompense.

So they didnt even improve the fog lights on the gen 2 ? ![Why Me](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/whyme.gif)
My gen 1 are cracked but not due to stone or rocks. They both have a straight line going through them, this indicates heat expansion. Example, hot lense then cold water = crack.

Same here I also agree it is a design flaw. Don't care what all you neah sayers say here.
I had a Toyota Celica with 200K and not one foglight cracked.
Seems suspect here thats why I started this thread. It's your own dumb fault if you don't complain and have to pay $ 400 per light installed "Total Cost " I was quoted but they replaced for free at "NO CHARGE
" to me because they acknowledge I am an excellent customer and have two Acuras purchased from them ... new! If not and they piss me off I just go down the street and start buying Lexus.
I would rather not but it's still an option. Car dealers right now can't afford to loose good customers so they will do what's right to keep them happy.

I paid (my auto insurance deductible) prior to discovering that this is an issue with the vehicle and a possible design flaw. The dealership did not offer to replace at their expense and whether they knew/know that it is problem, I guess I'll never know. Like many others, I just thought it was a "sh**t happens" issue with the foglight cracking. I wasn't necessarily complaining about the $400 price tag, but letting others know the cost to repair something as simple as a cracked foglight.

only you can answer that question. I have had my lamin x on for 2 years and have not had an issue. It is really a poor man's repair. If you have the money then do the repair.

After they replaced my cracked Fog for
"Free" I went out and purchased Lamin x for both. Both Fogs survived the winter with no cracks. Total spent 16.50 + some elbow grease!

Should replace the fronts with lexan...problem fixed. Not sure why they still use glass on these in general. Glass that close to the ground, at normal speeds, suprised leaves dont blow that junk to pieces.

I just bought a 2009 two weeks ago. Last night I discovered that one of the fog light is cracked big time. 5-6 cracks coming from the impact point. I went on line and found several Acura dealers who sell the fog light cover. I am thinking that it is the glass lens. The part description and part number are as follows:
Acura TSX L. FRONT FOGLIGHT COVER
Part# 71108-TL0-G00
Is this the part that I need to replace the cracked lens in my fog light? Do I need to pull the bumper cover to get to the fog light assembly? Why do I have to go the $400 dealer route?
Thanks!

Fog light covers are very easy to break. Remove your bumper, take the whole housing out. Purchase some lexan, cut to fit, apply some sealant, close it up, put it all back together. No more problems. Takes a lot to crack the Lexan, and looking at fixing it, might as well fix the issue for good.

Otherwise, you would be better off replacing the glass with lexan. Otherwise, the replacement glass may eventually break. There is a DIY somewhere, and I believe there is a guy on that sells prepared ones (he did it for his friend's TSX, and now makes them on the side).
My fog lights have been fine ever since I bought my car (almost 5 years). It just depends on your environment. Socal roads are pretty clean around here.
