G-001: 2010 TSX Driver's Side Foglight "Cracked"

Noticed today that my driver's side foglight is cracked from a stone. Are you kidding me?? Called Acura they said bring it in and we will determine what to do? Yeah they better fix it! It shouldn't crack from regular driving! Anybody else experience this?

Do you really think they are going to replace your foglight because a rock flew up and cracked your lens? How is that defective?

The lens shouldn't crack.. period. My TLS the lens on the drivers side mirror cracked from a rock and they replaced it under warranty.

Good luck...went thru the same process with my 09 (2 months after I bought it). The dealership went thru the motions and denied my claim. I called Acura and they also stated this is not covered. I did not want to absorb the cost of a new fog light so I covered the crack with X-Pel. (www.xpel.com)

*Update* Dealer said they will take care of it "no charge." I have purchased numerous new Acuras from them and my TSX just recently. Probably want to keep me happy. That damn foglight costs $210 + Install!!!! CRAZY TALK!

*Another Update* I met with the Service Manager today and he confirmed that they are having a problem with the bottom foglights cracking. They are made of glass not plastic! If yours cracks fight it tooth and nail they should replace them at "NO CHARGE!" There is no reason for them to crack. He told me that Acura is aware of the problem. Look for a recall or something hopefully soon!

both of the foglights on my 06 tsx cracked within the first 6 months. I was also lucky-the dealer replaced them free as a one-time goodwill. I then put rockblocker (no longer in business) on them and no problems in 3+years and 100K+ miles. I also wrote a letter to Acura Corporate telling them the should do something about the foglights. I think everyone that has a problem with cracked foglights should let acura corporate know. This will hopefully help change on what they use to make them.

Huh... both of mine are cracked. I didn't want to fork out the $$ to have them fixed, but now that I know this I'm definitely going to get them to replace them free of charge the next time I take my car in...

Just a follow up. My Acura dealer did replace it last Wed "Free of Charge." Speak up everybody!!! HAVE THEM REPLACE IT FOR FREE!!! It's an obvious defect in the engineering. Unlike my TLS the foglights on the TSX are not slanted but flat --straight on-- I think that has something to do with them being prone to cracking. Just my opinion.

Wish I had read this prior to having mine replaced! I took my car to the dealership and they said nothing about this being a known issue. They quoted me $400 to replace. I filed an insurance claim, for the first time ever, because my comprehensive deductible is only $100. What a hassle...

I have an entire quadrant missing on my foglight - its different back here in South Africa though. Dealer is charging me USD350 to replace and install. They say this definately isnt a warantee claim.

Just thinking of doing Lamix-X protection film over it as a temporary measure.

I was going to temporarily fix mine with a sealant, but was advised that if water/moisture were to collect that it could potentially cause a short in the electrical system.

I filed an insurance claim because my deductible is only $100 for comprehensive, which supposedly doesn't count against you and will not increase your premium. That is the only thing that changed with my insurance, but my premium did increase $12/month this year. This was the first insurance claim I ever filed in the 22 years I've been driving.

Had I known this was a issue with the TSX I would have had the dealership repair at no cost. Of course, they did not volunteer the information that this is a known issue.

This is one of my major problems!
Both of my foglights are CRACKED!
I went ahead and called the dealership, and said a whole bunch of BS about how it's all my fault as the driver and that I would have to absorb the cost and get the new foglights.
What I'm saying is that these foglights, well ANY lights on a car, should NOT break under normal driving.
They should recall these foglights!

Acura should issue a recall. What Engineer in their right mind would design foglights out of glass!!!! YES THEY ARE GLASS!!! THERE SHOULD BE A PLASTIC REPLACEMENT ISSUED BY ACURA AT NO CHARGE FOR ALL TSX 2009 - CURRENT!!! THIS SHOULD NOT BE AN OUT OF POCKET EXPENSE!!

What year model prelude did you replace them with?
And there was probably some retrofitting involved, huh?
Those fogs look sick I gotta say!

2001 with jdm replica fogs and turn signals
ive already drilled holes in them for 6-8 LEDs wired to my cigarette lighter.

the bottom fog is still hooked up to the OEM wires so it will turn on when the projectors are on.

there's welding involved to create the sheet metal brackets to keep the turn signal/fogs as one. then i used zip ties to secure it to the bumper and wire mesh to help support it.

should include all tsx's with factory foglights-I recommend owners that have or had their foglights cracked write a complaint letter to acura corporate. If they get enough complaints they are more likely do something to correct the problem

OMG Glass?! You've never seen plastic crack or break? Seriously? A recall? What would you like them to recall next? Windshields that don't break when a rock hits it? Paint that doesn't scratch? Maybe if you're tire ever goes flat from running over a nail, that should be covered under warranty too?

Include a recall for dufus owners too. I'm sorry but the idea of a fog light recall is humorous bordering on ridiculous.

OP, sometimes stuff happens even to the best of cars and it's no one else's fault except, perhaps, for sinister inantimate rock like objects.

It is $400 to replace. Maybe you wouldn't be so cynical if it had happened to you.

We have owned numerous vehicles with foglights. The tsx was the first to have foglights that cracked. We also average 30,000+miles a year driving. I think acura (honda) needs to do something to fix this problem.

Agreed! There is no reason why these Foglights are cracking after 2K miles on the clock ? ? ? and cost $400 a crack to replace!!!

After seeing a number of cracked foglight post in this forum, I installed a $15 Lamin-x film on my car earlier this year and so far so good. I really like the yellow colour one but it's also available in clear, tint, gunsmoke and optic blue.

I put rockblocker (no longer in business) after the cracked foglights were replaced by the dealer. It has been on for over 3 years and so far works great. Mine are a blue tint.

Glad to be of assistance. They are super easy to install, make sure the glass area is completely clean and have a x-acto knife to cut off the tabs when it's done.

Can you provide the part number so we can look it up and actually verify the cost of replacement?

PS - the fog lights on my Yukon cost about the same to replace. Actually, more.

I'm sure you're correct. However, a cracked lens on a foglight is hardly a specific Acura/Honda problem. Cracked lens' happen all the time with glass and plastic foglights. It's a function of mileage and time and it's bound to happen.

Heaven forbid some of you guys ever get a crack in your windshield - the sky may literally fall.

I was quoted $269 + tax from Acura of Memphis, for one single foglamp assembly to replace one of mine that cracked. I told them how it looked good on the shelf and went with a headlight armor laminant cover to keep moisture out. $300 bucks for a foglight is robbery

The entire assembly has to be replaced, not just the glass; hence the $400 cost. I would have preferred a cracked windshield, because in FL the replacement is covered 100% by auto insurance with no deductible.

my local dealer won't cover my passenger side foglight after only a week of owning my 2010.

some online websites are selling them anywhere from $125 to $150 per side.

I think I'll be looking at getting some HID ones or different ones completely.

part numbers:

passenger: 33900-TL0-A01
driver: 33950-TL0-A01

Both my foglights and my windshield all cracked a month after I got mine.

Hey let's see if the new foglights on the 2011 crack after a month too...

This reminds me of the lady I sold a new (in 06) TL to. She hit a deer after 1 week and demanded that the car be repaired under warranty. This foglight thing honestly seems to be on the same level of dumbness.

Hmmm, a salesperson thinking that complaining of a cracked foglight is dumb. Imagine that...
