2012 Acura TSX Tech

It has happened in the past where I don't hold the key long enough to start - the 2nd time I hold it longer and it cranks but won't start. I wait 10 seconds and it works.

Today similar happened, however the 2nd time trying it would not start. I tried at least 5-7 times in a 5 min period and nothing. I left the car for 1 hour and came back. It started right away - however there was a lot of white smoke out of the tail pipe for 5 - 10 seconds. The car currently starts as per usual.

Any ideas?

Researching online points to immobilizer or fuel pump. Both seem too early to go on this age of a vehicle.

Side note: I used a multimeter to confirm both the battery and alternator are good.

I can't reproduce it.. From what I have read it could have to do with the immobilizer. I know the dealer gave me a new key when I purchased it. I will try the valet key next time it doesn't start.

 

what all did you check using the multimeter? How did you determine your battery was good, because you got a reading? I'd still look into getting a new battery.

Checked the battery cold, and then while running. 12.7 cold and 14.1 running.
