Door Locks Cycling On

I recently purchased a used 2010 TSX to replace my 06 TSX. We noticed prior to purchase intermittent failure to lock w/ keyfob and interior switch and got a 30 day deferred fix from dealer.

My wife has noticed that intermittently, the door locks repeatedly lock while driving.

Is this simply a faulty door lock actuator or possibly MPX control unit fault?

I would like to avoid a fishing expedition by the dealer shop.

thanks

There's a setting where the doors lock once the car travels above 5 or 10mph. If they're randomly locking while going at speeds faster than 10mph I'd recommend having the dealer take a look.

Thanks, it's not the normal lockup at 10 mph, but repeated locking at higher speeds.

regards

Problem seems to be "firming". Now, frquently the driver's door lock will not lock on command, either from keyfob or door switch.

I noticed locks are actuated anytime car backs up, or when speed decreases below 10 mph and then exceed 10 mph. Is this normal?

good luck

no that is not normal.

the doors should lock one time and then not change until whatever is set to happen when the key is off or car put into park.

in the owners manual it shows how to review the settings like when the doors lock and when they unlock. there are a few settings

but IMO its the module that locks the doors going bad/ \

There is a TSB for this issue with a revised part. Print the TSB and show it to your dealer. Have all 4 done at the same time. It is not a matter of IF they will go out but when.

Thanks for TSB info.

I dug through owner's manual and reset door lock, auto option to only lock when shift is moved from Park. This should reduce re-locking, already locked doors (bad for actuators).

Door is now frequently not locking or not unlocking. I plan to take back to dealer for the repair that was promised (in writing).

Thanks

did you figure out the buttons you have to click on the key transmitter for the doors to unlock when putting the car in park?

Seems when i was messing with the buttons, i disabled that function.

You make those adjustments using the buttons on your steering wheel, not the key.

Read your manual

I am now sure that at least the driver's door actuator is bad. It may be that other actuators are intermittent.

thanks

It just depends on use and of course the driver's door will always need to be unlocked. I like to have all my doors open on the first key press so I can access the wagon's tailgate quickly (no power liftgate for me ). Once you start using the others, they will go out. Just make sure you have the updated part number on the service ticket when you leave, and you should be good to go. There will then be a one year Acura parts warranty after that, so you should be safe for a bit. So far, mine have been good with the new fix (knock on wood).

Went back to dealer (Texas Direct) today and they replaced both driver's side door lock actuators. Hopefully, good for a while.

I suspect previous owner had door locks set to lock every time car passed 10mph,... a lot of locking.

good luck

That's absurd. That's how I've had every car I've owned (that had that feature)set and I've never (knock on wood) had that issue.

Only observation is that things wear out when used more frequently.

good luck

Of course, but these things are designed for that - or at least they were intended to be designed that way.

It is a reasonable assumption that a software function provided by the manufacturer will not lead to premature failure.

You should really push to have the two rear doors replaced as well. Those will go out too.

While you are likely correct, there is a slim to no chance you are going to get a dealer to replace a "functioning as designed" part. Doesn't matter to them what might happen, just what isn't working or functioning properly today. Sadly this is my experience, but a lot depends on your relationship with the dealer and SA.

Texas Direct replaced two intermittent door lock actuators as part of original used car purchase (no warranty). I'm happy. If more go out, I'll replace them as necessary.

good luck

I had three go out eventually and was able to push to get the 4th replaced. I was really just tired of going to the dealership over the stupid locks! It was also a fun game to figure out which door lock was squeaking at which point!

I have lots of occasionally complaining/whining door lock actuators, but they all still continue to work. Two in my TL-S and two in my daughter's Accord. There may even be one in my other daughter's CR-V, but don't drive it enough to be sure.

Does anyone have a TSB number for these actuator issues? Better yet, a link to the TSB so I can print it.
