Cup holder won'e OPEN all the way....

First post. I just picked up a 2011 TSX sport wagon w/ tech and have noticed the center console cup holder door will not entirely open all the way. I have searched and searched the forum with no luck. I have only seen one other user(on youtube) have this issue but with no resolution to the problem.

I have followed this guide to re-align the center console with no luck: http://photos.imageevent.com/astrobo...sb/B08-027.pdf

It's as if there is something stuck under the door. In which case my next move will be to remove trim/console pieces etc. to remove cup holder and explore. I wanted to ask around before I have to do that. Any one hear of this issue.

Undoubtedly something stuck in there. If you bought it from a dealer then I'd take it back and have them rip the console apart.

A while back, I had the door closed and a pen resting on the crack. I didn't think before but I opened the drink holder and the pen dropped in. I saw it as if it was in slow motion... I couldn't fish it out since the gap was narrow. I just lived with the door not opening all the way. A year or so later, the door wouldn't stay closed. I could push it down but a second later, the door would pop open. I ripped the cup holder assembly out, flipped it upside down, cleaned the locking mechanism, and it's as good as new.

I followed the directions posted somewhere else on here to pull the cup holder out.

I put a power cord in my cup holder and the wire got stuck in the hinge side. About 100 presses of the lid finally got it open a little that I could move the cord around enough to eventually dislodge it and fully open it.

Good idea. I'll let the dealer take care of this one. Thanks!

I believe there is a TSB for the cupholder lid not shutting.

Not to pee in the punch or anything...but once you get it so it stays open be prepared to have cups and bottles rattle like crazy in there!

Incorrect. The HydroFlask fits perfectly and doesn't rattle. It also keeps your drinks hot for a good 6 hours and stuff cold forever. I still have ice in the cup that I put in yesterday morning.
