Car won't start
Car won't start
Back in October, I had a full tank of gas, sitting at a stop light when all of the sudden my gas gauge went from full to empty and repeated. I took the car in and they couldn't find anything wrong with it.
It's been very cold here so last week, after work, I go to start my 2009 TSX and it wasn't cranking as fast as it normally does. Well yesterday morning (I always keep my car garage kept) when I went to start it to go to work, the thing wouldn't start!! I tried it twice and it tried to start but it wouldn't turn over. Later that afternoon, I tried to start it and was told that if I held my gas pedal to the floor and start it, as weird as it sounds, it would work and it did and I managed to get it Acura.
It's been at Acura since last night and the Service Manager said the tech has tried starting it last night, through tonight and it starts right up. Whether the car is outside or inside, they cannot mimic the issue. Nor when they hooked it up to the diagnostic machine and took the hard drive out do they see any errors with it. Ok, what gives!?!?!?
Has anyone had this issue? I was told by a co-worker that it might be full injection problem.
I'd love to get some ideas or talk with someone who has had this issue.

With a fuel injected engine,if the engine is flooded, pressing the gas pedal to the floor will turn OFF the fuel injectors. Doing so will aid in starting a flooded engine. As to the OP,it is very difficult to say what the problem could be sitting at a computer.
Thanks for the replies so far.
No I didn't flood it. The car was cold, parked overnight. Last week, it was parked during the day as I worked. It was slow starting but wouldn't kick over yesterday morning. Tried it twice and then once I put the pedal to the floor and turned it on, it started.

flooded with what?
I have an 09TSX 6MT with Tech and that same issue has happened to me twice. Once in the winter of last year and once last summer. It was odd, but as you stated all you have to do is press the gas pedal down and the car will turn on.
Hopefully it never happens again.

When your car is cold, it needs a very rich fuel mixture in order to start ("rich" means lots of gas and very little air). But if all that gas pours into the cylinders, and, for some reason, the engine doesn't start, the spark plugs can literally get all wet. And when they get too wet, they can't make sparks and the car won't start. That's "flooding."
On a fuel injected car like our TSX, you floor the gas pedal while turning the key. What you're doing is sending a message to the computer (which controls the fuel-air mixture). When you press the gas pedal to the floor in the "crank mode" (when the engine is trying to start), you let the computer know that the engine is flooded, and the computer automatically cuts the fuel flow.
To OP: If problem persist, then you may have leaking fuel injector, regulator, or sensor causing the extra fuel delivery, take it back to the dealer.

Good ideas.
I want to mention though this has nothing to do with flooding my car. It has to do with my car not starting when it is cold or slow to crank when cold.
My car IS in the shop right now and since they keep starting it every hour, of course it is going to start.

I wondered about a battery being under warranty, I'm kinda surprised they wouldn't consider it a wear issue and not warranted.
you know i had this start up issue the first winter with my car, but this winter I do the whole " let the fuel pump do its thing" and my car always starts up no issues.. I just turn the key and don't turn to ignition from the on position till the fuel gauge moves

My car was very hesitant to crank when we had a couple of days here in the 20's. After leaving my phone to charge and forgetting it for several hours, it went totally dead and I had to jump it.

I think they are. We're not the only H/A owners I've heard complain about the series/size (51R) and an apparent inherent weakness in it's design and/or manufacturing.
This happened last week to mine during a really cold snap. Had the heated seats on that day but I'd be surprised if that had anything to do with it.
I'm pretty sure it's battery-related--I'll get them to have a look since I'm due for A1 service soon anyways. Pretty disappointing when a near-brand new car is not starting for you!

I *need* brakes and will soon need tires, but don't want to replace with stock stuff so that's on my plate at the moment, too.
HD, keep in mind your stock Panasonic battery may be defective and you can't beat Acura free replacement warranty for 4 years.
After warranty ends, you should definitely go for optima or other aftermarket replacement battery.
My stock battery has been working flawlessly for 19 months, knock on wood.

So I had a 2009 TSX that had the same exact problems as TSX gurl has described above. The problem persisted for over a year and finally in absolute frusteration I took the car to the dealer ship and told them to keep it until it was fixed. The car had left me stranded one too many times (even though within 10 or so minutes it would always start). They had the car for a month and could not recreate the problem so they ended up actually taking the car back and putting me in a 2010 TSX. I hadn't had any problems and then in March one morning the car did the same thing as my 2009 TSX and the same problem that TSX gurl's had. I decided that it had to be something that I was doing that was wrong. I didn't call the dealership and then the other morning I got in the car and it wouldn't start. That was the first time, in all the times that the 2 cars wouldn't start, that I noticed it was turning over VERY, VERY slowly. My boyfriend came out to help me try and start it and it just wouldn't fire up. He tried and tried and tried. Finally it started turning over faster and more normally but still wouldn't start. I had a tow on the way and my boyfriend FINALLY got it started up. When the car finally started I noticed a HUGE cloud of white/gray smoke come out of the exhaust pipes. It indicated to me that the car was infact flooded even though I was trying to start it for the first time after it had sat out front all night long (at least 12 hours).
Occasionally when I get in it in the morning to try and start it it will start up and then (for a lack of a better way to explain this) it will sputter out and die (like it is runningo out of gas). Then it will proceed to not start, just turning over. Has anyone else experienced this??
