Question Question about these exhaust tips...

I just bought a TSX. It's a great car, and I like it.
The only problem is that it's used, and the previous owner did some really dumb "modding" to it.

I want to replace these third party exhausts with the Acura OEM exhausts.
Here's my question:
Do I need to replace the whole muffler system or can I just replace the exhaust tips.

I'm not sure if you can answer the question by just looking at this picture.
I am planning on visiting a mechanic, but I'd like to know what you guys think.

Thanks!

Here's the picture:

Those def aren't the factory mufflers, you can clearly see where they hacked off the old ones and welded in the new mufflers and piping. So if you truly want to go back to stock, you'll need the whole muffler assembly. And if it's anything like the TLs, the one side is just the muffler and and a little bit of piping, but then the other side it the whole section from the cat back (resonator, tubing, etc). Sorry I don't know off the top I my head, I don't really pay attention to the exhausts at work

If you don't mind the sound, you could always have someone hack off the tips and find something else less "modded" looking to replace them by welding them on. Just an option.

I know they're not factory mufflers.
I can tell from the sound. It's really loud and just obnoxious.
But why did I buy it? Well, I got it for a good price.

Anyways, I basically need to replace the whole muffler assembly then, correct?

How much would it be to replace the whole muffler assembly? I'm hearing close to $700...!!!!!!

Be careful, stock tips are small, they dont look so bad with standard bumper, but if you have modulo i suggest bigger tips. I use stock mufflers with 100mm exhaust tips welded. Car looks good and my ears are fine

Well if you already "knew", then why did you ask?...

Anyway, on Acuraoemparts.com, it shows I was correct that one of the sides, you can get just the muffler, and the other side, you need to be the whole piping section from the cat back, which includes the resonator. That alone is $579, which doesn't include any hardware (nuts, bolts, gaskets, hangers, etc). So yeah I could easily see it being around $700, not including install.

Maybe someone here will want them? Though you have kind of trashed the way that they sound, so maybe not

Oh and I agree with ed, post some video clips of the exhaust in action lol.

Well, I never asked if they were Acura OEM parts or third-party.
I asked if I needed to replace the whole muffler assembly.

But anyways, you answered my question.
I visited the shop, and yes, I do have to replace the whole muffler assembly, which costs $700-$1000.

Oh well. Maybe I'll just use them.

If I were you before shelling out big buxs for a "stock" exhaust. I would wait to see how much (CT-Engineering Cat-Back Exhaust) will be here's the link https://acurazine.com/forums/2g-tsx-performance-parts-modifications-299/ct-engineering-cat-back-exhaust-753916/
