Car needs to be jumped often
OK so on my list of problems(my poor baby), currently i have a pretty bad one. the car not only dies really easily(which i know is cause the battery is shittier than killerG) such as having accesories on without the engine for only 3min. i've had to jump my car 4-5 times in the past month. which is awkward because i only drive the car on some weekends because im in school. i have Driver 1 key, and Driver 2 is for my sis and the rest of the family. so i am the only one who uses my key. the car doesn't turn over after even a few hours of not being driven, but not every time, i can't detect a pattern. there were no lights or anything left on, and my HID fogs are even disconnected. my sister, who drives it on a nearly daily basis, has never had to jump the car in the past month(or ever). she left it parked in the city for me yesterday, and i picked it up, and it wouldn't start. i keep cables in the car, and luckily have had friends around when i needed to jump the car. there were no lights or anything left on. the really awkward part, though it wouldn't crank, all the interior LED's and the lowbeams turned on without a problem. even after locking and unlocking the car. so it seems the battery is not even fully drained. good thing i keep jumper cables in my trunk, and know how to use them(you put them on the lug nuts of your wheels and connect it to your friends bumper, and then gun it)
long story short. car fails to start but interior and exterior lights work fine. no pattern to occurence. ONLY happens with Driver 1 key.
anyone had experience with this? i'll be taking it to the dealer hopefully thanksgiving break. but i also have to take my moms MDX in because the steering wheel is screeching and the defroster seems to suck

Do you hear any sound when you try to start when it wouldn't start? If you jump and it starts everytime, I would suspect it's the battery slowly draining over time due to not driving. These are high compression engines and it takes quite a bit for it to turn over.
when my battery died and i needed a jump (happened once) it didnt crank either, lights would turn on and nothing would happen in the engine bay till i had the jump going.
(also, fuck you
)
take it to the dealer, ask for a loaner, explain your problem best you can, and leave em your 1 key.

the car has 23K miles on it and was leased march 2010. i drive it plenty, so its nothing like that. it also has sat for a day or two in the cold without being driven and starts just fine for my sis. i tried to start it after it was parked 3 hours prior, and nada. i just dont know how my key can have that affect. i think i may have heard a noise similar to grinding. like it trying to catch but mission or something, and the dash lights all flicker

if the lights are flickering...your battery is starting to go (this was the only warning along with a slow turnover on a DD, that the battery was about to check out on the two acura batteries i had in my TL). get it to the dealer, the battery will be covered under warranty to hopefully last a few years, before it craps out again. acura batteries suck.
Try to get the dealer to replace the battery-it is under warranty-
When I had the annual NC state inspection on 01/11/10 the acura dealer (not my regular dealer) replaced the battery stating it tested low. I never had any problems with it. My car had 95,020 miles (according to the paperwork). New battery is going good (knock-on-wood)

Yeah the dealership should replace battery with no problem. My next door neighbor just bought a new 2011 TL couple months ago, and his car didn't start yesterday. He didn't leave any lights on, it just died.
Jesus Christ, these battery horror stories make me wonder what's gonna happen come winter time. I don't want to be stuck in Vermont with a dead battery. Hmm...do you guys recommend buying a better battery or just hope the Acura one suffices?
the battery has never failed to be jump, so you could one of those portable battery jumpers. it charges in less than 2 min. i've luckily always had a friend close by. i know they'll replace the batt under warrant, and its a lease so i only need it for another year. i was worried about a connection with my key because it only happens to me not my sis, and shes been driving alot more tthan me

really?! i picked up an interstate megatorn plus 85mo battery. rated well by CR and has more than enough cranking power to get the car going. i dont' drive my TL on a daily basis, so i wanted something that was going to be reliable. its up to you what you want to do. just be aware that OEM batteries...can crap out on you for no reason at all and often times under mormal usage without warning. i was lucky, my lights flickered and a slow turnover signaled me to get my battery checked before i was left stranded. its all over the TL forums in terms of battery reliability.

Goooooo Panasonic 51R!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Volts are one thing, LED's and regular incandescent bulbs don't draw much power.
Amps are the torque required to turn the engine over. I'd be surprised if it's a "Driver 1" key issue, just a notoriouly sheeity battery.
mrstak...NFW I'd trust the OE battery in Vermont over the next...4-5 months.
