2nd oil change

I'm just under 20,000 miles, and I have my 2nd oil change scheduled at the dealership this weekend. The maintenance minder is at 10%, and a reference to B-1. Maintenance B1 suggests an oil change, and a bunch of inspections, as well as a tire rotation. I can get my tires rotated free at a local place. But aside from that, how much does Acura want for a B1 maintenance? I'd surely expect that after only 20k of mostly highway travel, these items should be just fine. My first oil change was free(I had a coupon from the salesman). thanks.

since you are getting the tires rotated elsewhere do not ask for the B-1 service. Ask for a oil/filter change. They normally will do an inspection of the car and recommend what they think is needed. If you do not like their suggestions-say NO.

haha i just got the b1 service reminder 2 days ago!

i havent been to the dealer for almost a year now. they try to rip me off, so i left lol. now i just go to a local mechanic recommended by forum members in the regional section, they are cheap and uses OEM parts and does a great job as well.

i say, try to find another coupon, or look for a GOOD local mechanic (make sure it has good reviews, uses oem parts, etc) because i think the dealer might want to rip you off

i got the coupon from the salesman when I bought the car...I'll check the dealer's website, but I doubt I'l find anything like the coupon I had for the first change...which was free. So I have not really had much real experience with the service department of the dealer...and frankly, it will probably be the last time I go there, as they are building a brand-new Acura dealer about 4 miles from where I work...all this said, I may just have them do the oil change, and see what kind of courtesy checks they do this time around...

We do also have a pretty reputable Honda dealer near my house, where my wife's Pilot/daugher's Civic is serviced...they've done good work for us in the past, and their prices are relatively competititve...I'd bet they would do maintenance stuff like this on an Acura....so I'll go to the dealership I bought the car from one more time, then move on to my other options....

so i figure an oil change should be around $40/$50, not counting the full B1 service.

Even though the mileage minder doesn't indicate a "2" in the code as well, you might consider changing out the cabin air filter (5 -10 minute job) and engine air filter (another 5 -10 minute job) as well. At your mileage, it's a good time to change them out... or at least look at them. Total cost for both filters from a local auto store will run you around $40 -$50
